Default AWESOME...

I am on kit bag 10 of the build of my New X11 and it just keeps getting better, not sure if this sounds a bit weird, but I don't want it to end..

The instructions are simple, as soon as you understand exactly how much help they give you in each diagram and what parts are used etc. I also read through the review thread of both X10 and X11 and have just taken my time. I am really enjoying the process and the way it goes together. I did get a couple of pointers from Mark (OP), Will Jonstone (Team Driver), Martin Hayes (again Team Driver), Lewis (Team Owner) and Dave. I also had a good look at Kev Lee's old car the other day.. so just a little insight into The Pred.. lol

Martin, your car does look so cool but we wouldn't expect anything less from a newly signed Team Driver. I hope you'll be able to help me get the most out of it on track!!

Great thread Mark, as always, looking forward to racing this car flat out in the near future..

Scott..

I'll have to get a pic of the X11 team at the next meeting!

It IS a piece of Engineering Art.. It looks so sleek and stylish, when I've watched them before they look so quick and smooth so really looking forward to some track action. Anyway, got to go, Bag 11 awaits.. lol

Hey Scott! glad to hear you are joining the X11 club! Enjoy! As you know i am very new to the car/team so my knowledge on it is limited at the moment but im learning all the time. What i do know however is that i have never before felt this excited and enthusiastic about racing, having a season away from RC and now getting my hands on the X11 (something ive wanted to own for some time!) has really opened up some new avenues for me. If you need any help with anything feel free to come and find me mate and i'll do my best to help out.
Enjoy the build mate, im looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Thanks Martin,

It's nearly finished, as I said, I'm not in any rush and I have probably missed something which Will will point out.. lol

I can't wait to fit the electrics and get it going, I've got a couple of large meetings in 2012 and want to be doing my best at them all..

Happy New Year All Pred owners.. slightly biased but hey, why not!!!

Dicko..

Nice thread btw Mark
Hope they've changed the material if you're running plastic pinion gears in the gearboxes. In the XK98 running 12 turn motors they used to last about one and a half meetings. If you left them longer than that they took the crown gear with them when they started jumping teeth.

The steel pinions are wonderful...

Stretch, the X11 comes with the Steel pinions in the gear box, the RS as Will started will have composite ones, I know Ashton has been running the new RS pinions in his X11 for a season and they are still going strong!

So, new material.

Shimmimg the diffs also used to be pretty important - is this still the case?

cheers mate, could do with a new profile picture really! I dont really get caught on camera very often. I didnt think I would miss the racing banter as much as I am, sods law that the moment I leave the Pred gets an upturn in interest. would have been nice to be part of a group rather than being the only one other than Ashton sitting on the dark side being sniped at

Yes bit a shame there were not many team drivers last few years, good news for new Pred owners as other people to bounce ideas off.

Get some pics of your Pred in the Aussie dirt Goldy!

As promised are some shots/info on the front push rod mod.

This is basically like moving the shocks in on the wishbone on a conventional car.

Team Xtreme made me up this kit to do this, drop them a line if you want a kit.

Basically its some longer bolts, blue conical washers, turnbuckles and rear shock posts.

Here are some pics:

Basically you need to cut the rear shock tower mounts off flush so you make a rectangular block, then line up and mark the blocks on the wishbones in the corner near lower ball joint, drill out with 3mm drill bit and fit. Use ball joints of old turnbuckles and re-fit to new shorter turnbuckles.
Mount the new short turnbuckles with longer bolt and conical washer on top of rocker and job done!

I've used just the blue aluminium servo mouts to fit the turnbuckle on the wishbone and it is also a good solution.
