Too many rules there, i agree !! But we got to sort this date thing out Pete.

One thing i wouldnt like to see now is too many people dusting off more 90's buggies than their 80's buggies - the whole point of this was to get peoples old, old buggies out and running - if everyone now starts thinking of running CAT2000's, XX's, B2's, XX4's etc etc it kind of defeats the point a little ?

Having the odd later car is no problem in my book, but if suddenly you've got Belsten and Griff ( apologies guys - but you have both said so ) asking about running later cars, everyone will do so if they can...

Im a competitive person as you all know ( ! ), so if im running round in a fragile Egress being lapped 3,4,5 times per heat by a few more modern buggies the shine is kind of taken off the experience for me, especially when i know people have equally as valuable, fragile cars they couldve run instead but didnt - I really want to mostly run against early CATS & Cougars, Optima Mids, JRX2's, Astutes, TRX1's Tubbed RC10's etc etc etc, cars it would have ran against when it was new... If that was the case id forget running the Egress & Top Force and just run the Predator or a sorted Lazer ZXR. Only way i could be competitive !

But thats not the spirit of it is it ?

Dave Jackson had the right idea last couple of years - Fire Dragon Rules !!

I really didnt want to get into this debate too much, but i am now so there :P

Pete if runnin your zx its more than capable of handling your lipo and brushles. I wouldnt run my zx in the vintage as it would be unfair but mine easily handles a 5.5 with 40c cells. If i could make one event and im trying, id be running my zxs

The rules already mean the b2, xx4 & pred 95 cant score points as they are post 93
With respect to the xx and 2000 I don't know what to suggest, both are technically legal, but I guess what you are saying is that they're not in the spirit of the competition
But what about a yokomo works 93, i'd love to see one running again

Edited to suggest what about an 80's class and a 1990 to 1994 class?
(although my lazer was released in 89 so should it run against a fav? Tricky this!)
plus Dave wants to run a mix of cars that go accross both classes

maybe if it wasnt a competition people would be happier running the old stuff?

what about 2 classes, vintage could be up to 1992, and then classic which could be 1993 to 1995 or 96. this would allow the more fragile early schumachers, kyosho`s, rc10, tamiya`s etc in the vintage and then cat 2000, losi xx, lazer zxr, predator etc in classic.
we ran mixed 2wd and 4wd last year so it would`nt add extra heats as such and ought to keep everyone happy, (just a thought).

If last year is was pre 94 and year previous was 93 I don't see how you can go backwards to 93 again..

OK keep it at 94 I'm happy with the motor limit, this will stop the slightly newer cars dominating. 10.5 is all I'm putting in the cat anyway.

I think you should just get the series going and see the level of interest first.

I'm sure anyone reading these threads are going to more put off than just joining in the fun.

When you got over 20 people turning up with vintage then I'm sure you can break things up a bit.

There is no money or trophies involved in this series It's just for fun

Unfair ?
I seem to recall your ZX with a 5.5 in getting beat by my Mid with a 10.5 in ?

Ok, now i'm ill & posting on my phone so apologies if I upset anyone

3 weeks ago it was posted that someone was going to use a xx and everyone seemed happy, so I think on that basis the consensus then was for a pre94 cutoff the same as last year.
so if someone wants to run a car released during 1993 then it is legal end of!

I do appreciate what everyone is saying, which is why my own posts have been in two minds

Ps - James your zxs cannot run as it was released post 1994!

Go on then, What catorgory would my 80`s hotshot with brushed motor and kit tyres fit in. Bought it and done it up for this and for reliving memories. Might bung it in 4wd heats on normal nights just to annoy people and test it of corse

Rych it would be vintage, cos that's the only class we're running !

steve, it had better not be an EC or other derivitave!

nope took my info from here!!

http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13889

the car was advertised as a cat 2000 ec

I saw cat 2000 was a 93 and clicked buy it now...

I though cat ec was different like the cat 98 and cat98s are advertised as cat 98s i didn't realise the ec was the cat 2000ec

I am gutted after moans last year about my truck and moans about owens cars I thought I had got it right.

I'm not going to sell the car I'm going to keep it and enjoy putting it back together when I get round to running it I wont bring it on a vintage night as a don't want to upset people any more.

I will leave your vintage class to the select few.

But both those cars were running in the pre99 class that I created after several people wanted to run some newer than pre 94 car's.
i wasnt going to bother with that class this year due to the lack of interest, didn't realise it wasbecause of moans, sorry
