I guess the gear cover you are talking about and the ones being devolped are completly different.
The car does come with 1 for the front diff and a rear cover for the rear diff but the problem is from dirt balls getting into the rear diff gear from the front and top front of the rear diff where there is no cover.
Look at the first couple of post in this thread and you can see the proto type covers. They are very much needed on a new track or any track that has dirt balls the size of a pencil eraser. I tore up 2 diff gears in 3 days when our track was rebuilt and there was loose dirt not cleaned off yet. I didn't tear up a belt.
Thanks for the pic of your car.

The gear covers are the kit version in the above piccy, the ones mentioned on this thread are longer so the inside gear box which is not covered will be, hence why the guys are developing it as the diffs get so dirty. I would recommend buying them when they are available as this should save you on doing a lot of diff rebuilds.

Just went to test out my new Brushless motor.
Nothing big just wanted to tryout different pinions and get it set up properley.
In less then 2minuts A little rock found it's way in to the rear diff.
Popped the Belt right off and broke the Diff pully.

I think everyone that runs a 501X needz one Of these Asap.
I can't Keep buyin' new diffs everytime I go off roadin' on a dirt track.

PLEASE MATE TRY TO GET THESE TO US SOON.

I love this car but if this is gonna keep happenin' then I might think of lettin' it go or keep it as a shef Qeen. Hummm...
I can't keep on takin' a gamble every time I run this car.
it's really stratin' to get to me.

In the mean time, while we wait for the diff covers, I have been using a home made lexan cover, that fixes to the screws holding the rear battery posts in, and goes up, round the transmission housing, and goes up through the top deck aswell. Nothing will be getting past it, as it only has small cut outs for the belt to run through, and my pulleys are nice and clean .

Ill post a picture later, but its easy to do with a bit of lexan from an old undertray or cutoff from a bodyshell.

I was thinking of making my own covers also, it's not hard to do.

Talking

Hello evrybody!

I receive this message this morning from the manufacturer:

"Dear Cedric,
I have learnt a lesson, by relying on a small tool maker and advancing them money to make this tooling. Any way today I have fresh samples and hope they will be acceptable. Just in case you still want major changes, it would be better to scrap the old tooling and make fresh tooling from a better tool room. In view of all the problems, I have decided to send approx 100 pieces of each as the tools have to be mounted on the machine and raw material cost is
not a big worry. Besides DHL cost is same upto 1 Kg with certain volume restrictions. Let me see what best I can do.
Hope your address remains same, please confirm as samples will be sent tomorrow to reach you by Monday next."

So, I hope to be able to provide the first delivery at the end of next week !

Best regards

Cedric

I only plan on running mine in the fall/winter months.
I run the other car in spring and summer.
So dirt balls dont concern me on an indoor clay, where pink-taper slicks will work.
My other car has encased diffs.
