there border line upto the job as this a very common thing for a blow out ive had several do it as well as a few lads i know i think a belted tyre would be better

A belted tyre would stop the tyre expanding under accleration. I remember and old article in racer showing how you could turn the tyre inside out and then put a couple of layers of gaffa tape on.

So really my question would be has anyone tried this with a set of yellows?
Would/does it work?
Is it allowed? (brca regs)

I got hold of some of the GRP's today at batley - a few were using them as they were in the shops - cheaper too and they include moulded foams (apart from 2wd fronts) which is a bit of a good deal. I think the rears were the most expensive at 6.99, the 4wd fronts about 6.49 and 2wd fronts 5.99 if I remember correctly.

They feel really good too, I'll stick some photos up in a bit

we ran them today at batley, 2wd they were ace, just as must grip as the yellow Schumacher's,the car had a batter feel and look to it in the corners,we only managed 3 runs with them and they were shafted but we did drive them a little hard to say the least,i just hope there legal for nats next year big improvement on the Schumacher,

Matt must be an animal, I did 5 on mine and Dan did 1 on them so that was 6 runs and they still finished 2nd in the A, however they were screwed after the final.

I think mine held a decent race pace for 5 runs. I'll see how the 4wd's hold up tomorrow.

Well I ran the conespikes today, I liked them though for slightly different reasons to others!

Firstly the moulding is perfect, each spike nicely defined with an edge. The carcass is well made and of decent even thickness all the way round. They are a fraction smaller than a Schumacher mini spike but only a fraction. So they look good.

Fell wise, they don't feel the same as a yellow, there is more natural rubber in them, like a green Schumacher. As an approximation you could say in your hand they feel half way between a Schumacher yellow and green.

I planned to run mine in the 4th round and the final but in the 4th round my servo packed up. By the final the grass on the track was nailed, it was really biting into hard packed (concrete almost) dirt under the grass. They gripped really well and very consistently between the non grass and patchy grass bits left. What I would say is that the fronts had slightly less grip than the yellow, which I liked actually, maybe more of a balance. The rears are different to yellows, very good drive and as Tom proved good while they wear. They visually look to wear faster than yellows but seem to hold on that bit longer.

Much more to test but a very good tyre, I think they might be really good on drying tracks when you're not usually sure whether to be on greens or yellows. Or a less edgy tyre on grippy grass or astro.

Terry took a great pick of the top profile back to back against a Schumacher, hopefully he can pass it on tomorrow

Dan

Yeh, one set for now cheers. I just wanna do a comparison, hopefully they will jump better, schumis are really bad for jumps there, but drift round the corners really well.
