Default Cancelled

Sorry everyone, I have consulted with Derek tonight and we do not think it is viable to run an event, I basically have the following teams:

York A - 9 drivers only
Batley A - 10 drivers
Batley B - 6 drivers - not all details
Bury - 7 drivers - not all details

I have been promised other teams, but even most of the ones I have are not full or have all the details complete. I absolutely needed ALL the drivers details before I even started thinking about creating heats.

There was also the real possibility of people not turning up on the day if the weather looked like it could be bad.

I know a lot of people have put a lot of effort in chasing people to create teams, and I'm sorry you've wasted your time. I have also spent lot of time trying to work this all out.

Derek and I suggest we try to run the event on the first Sunday in April that is convenient for Batley Club, when more people will hopefully be interested in running an outdoor meeting after the indoor season. - This will be confirmed as soon as possible.

Perhaps Batley will run a club meeting this Sunday for all the people still interested in racing outdoors?

Again I am sorry to everyone who has put time into this,

Regards,

Graham

fair comment, but looking at that list of teams looks like only 30- 40ppl would be expected providing they turned up.

I'll tell you why, - also notce the time, 6.14am.

The software can not create the heats. There are 50 heats that need creating manually. People move round in the heats in a Reedy Race stylie. Everyone needs to be on differenct crystals- obviously.

I can not even start to create the heats until I have everyones details - which is fairly obvious - which I don't have.

Last year Derek started a week before the event, and he has used the software a lot. I have never done it, so even though Derek was going to help me I thought a week (on Dereks advice) was going to be needed.

It is now Tuesday, Derek goes away on Friday, and there is a BRCA consortium meeting on Wednesday (which I think I will be going to), so that left me Tuesday night and Thursday night to sort it all out.

Does that explain?

G

This is most defo not a go at G but I can't believe this, I've spent ages chasing people and now have a nearly full B team (as of this morning). Come on Teeside and NECR, do you just not want to race or what????????????????

We did have a full team available for the 23rd Dan, in fact more than 10, but unfortunately that was cancelled on the 13th. I'd arranged my shift pattern around the 23rd and Chris P is off on his honeymoon at the moment, so effectively there was no one to arrange the meeting from NERCR. However Peter Ellis from Jarrow club was trying to arrange something, but has obviously had the same trouble the most of us have experienced, getting information from the drivers!!

I'm sure you'll appreciate work commitments and weddings come before racing!!

i managed to get 8 peoples details, but with people being away etc just couldn't get the rest.

Personally i didn't realise how hard it was to get some simple details out of people.

Very easy to tell people to sort it for another date, but people have already commited alot of time to this, not sure many would be willing to try a third time to prize information out of people and re-confirm if they can do a different date. I think we need to see what comes of the consortium meeting, we are possibly getting too close to the indoor regional dates (still to be decided).

........and who needs to chill out

I agree with what G is saying, running at the start of the season, when people should be more eager to race outdoors, sounds a more viable option, hopefully I'll not be on shift then !!

Defo!!!

I'm frustrated by this because after so many of the Batley team let us down at the last minute last year I thought I'd harrassed ( ) people enough that all the 16 I'd got were actually going to show up rain or shine.

Also we had quite a good team that would give York a run for their money

I'll speak to Dianne, but what with the weather looking good I hope we can still run well attended club meeting? We were planning on laying a little more astro too so maybe if we can get a decent turnout of people early doors like the last club meeting, we can get some more astro down and get a really good club meeting to make up for it.

Dan

Like a mini end of year national.. Could we not still have it like an interclub by running it like a national and giving points as to how people finish in each reagion /Club. Just an Idea so dont shoot me.

The reedy format does seem overly complicated, but will sympathise with G for taking on the task with no details in time.

Could this meeting be ran in a none-Reedy style format when it is ran, take some pressure of G and Derek and hopefully make it a bit easier to prepare for?

OR

Pre-Prepare a few spreadsheets, catering for 5,6, 7 or 8 teams etc. Each team consisting of 10 drivers, and the drivers being simply reference numbers.... then when booking in is about assigning reference numbers to drivers..... or am I way off the mark with this?

Anyway, I'll be at York Saturday night, now there is no interclub I may just have a lie-in on Sunday.

Back from honeymoon now.

I am disappointed this isn't happening. A lot of us tried to get all the details together here for NERCR, but due to time constraints, and not getting drivers details in, it didn't happen.

thanks to all involved for trying though. Chris P.
