They are awesome, do you paint existing off the shelf boards or do you make them out of wood or something? Would like one actually.

hi john
im afraid i have to pop to the local signmakers shop i do wish you the best of luck with your work. i personally have stopped taking work at the mo i seem to be wearing out airbrushes like they are going out of fashion one of the major down sides of water base paints, and also we just cant charge for our time which is frustrating , people also seem to want the shells back the following day even if you have 2 weeks work sat on the bench. ![]() enough of my winging i love the work i hope you enjoy what you produce regards Andy bell ![]() |

Andy, what airbrushes are you getting through?
Water based paints should be easier on the brushes. I know what you mean about people wanting them for nowt and then wanting them next day. But i've gone on about this problem enough before so I'll not go on about it again. But just tell them you've got work on and they'll have to wait. I tell people now that a 'rush job' takes a week. because I've got to fit it into my other paint jobs, and I won't just stop doing other peoples just to get one shell done. It seems to go down ok and people are accepting that I've got loads on now. keep it up, don't let people stop you from doing it. I know you dont get anthing out of it, but just alter the pricing a bit. if they want a good job doing then they'll pay for it. if they don't want to pay your price the tough, thats what I say. Go and get it cheaper anywhere else if you can. ![]() |

it is the cleaning of the shell, the applying of masking fluid, doing the design, and trying to make it a little different, then the easy part, the spraying..... then work out you done it for about £3 an hour..... lucky i don't do it as a business!!!
I love spraying shells but hate it when you get people knowingly going round different painters for a price, choose someone cause you like their style and go for it.

hmm, I use that too, but daren't use it on large area's due to its ability to part company with lexan easily. I only use it for pin striping or small areas.
Do you get different finishes on different makes of shell? |
