as previously said- you'll have a long wait.

So, the S500 has been scrapped? And a/the Durango is possibly still in the works? or did I misunderstand.

Anyone know why the S500 was scrapped (perhaps because it and the Aero were so similar?)?

I don't think the word 'scrapped' was used, it was the word 'shelved'.

This happens in engineering, projects are put on hold when other projects or 'things' become more important to the company.

It's a shame, it looked awesome.

Well, generally in the world of engineering, "shelved" and "scrapped" are synonymous, in my experience. Things that sit on a shelf become obsolete, or just plain forgotten. I've got a 1/10 pan car that was shelved, now it may as well be scrapped because it's antiquated by that new Calandra car. May of course not be the case with the S500, but the chance is there, if it is shelved for too long. I hope they get it off the shelf asap I could always use another 4wd (as if I have the money)

Personally i dont think that serpent would have the folowing in off road, they are an unknown, are they prepared to invest and take a chance when times are hard

Obviously not, but even the durango is an old design now, there is only so far things can go before they have to be re thought and the design changed, maybe serpent have realised this. One thing for sure though, it would have been very sshhhhhmmooooooovvvvveee

Yeah it does make sense to not take such a big risk. I'd still love it if they'd sell me one of the prototypes though, with a few spares

How is the Durango perceived? I don't know much about it, other than a couple old videos I saw and the bits I read here and there when searching. I read lots of talk about it from a while, long while, ago, and it seemed people liked it and were excited about it and thought it was a winner. Is it really such an antiquated design, even though Aero and Serpent copied it?

Practically every car out is an old design anyways except the schuey. Some have a few small innovations, but otherwise seem to be based on designs that came out years, or even decades, ago. Not to say there is anything wrong with any of them (except that cheap chinese one that breaks in half, yet wins races because the company that makes the car pays massive amounts of money to get the best drivers who can baby the car around the track), just nothing that hasn't been seen year after year.

An incredible amount of people act like the B44 is the best thing ever (maybe not over there, but over here they do). It's a crappy copy of a car that was built out of not 1, not 2, but 3 antiquated crappy cars. Well, 1 of those cars wasn't that crappy, but the other 2 sure were, lol.

I guess the S500 didn't do that well at worlds either which would be a set back (although far be it from me to guess whether that was a car or drivers issue since I know neither). Even the Yok placed higher and they specialize in drifters.

I sure love that chassis design though. I'd have bought it just for that. Oh well, I'll be waiting.

Both the Durangos were in the A at the Worlds - can't really ask for much more than that to be honest. If Tebo were running one who knows what might have happened.

k so maybe that's not the reason...

If they'd just tell us why it was shelved, and what their future plans are, maybe I could finally get some sleep!

Interesting - well as someone who's owed money by Serpent for design work, does anyone know what I should do next? I've tried to contact Ronald Baar several times to no avail and I've kept silent for now

Is this true???

If Strenge is no longer with Serpent than surely we will never see a S500 in production...
