Default Two versions ? ? ?

Are there going to be 2 versions ? ? ? ? Look at the prices. there must be a difference or is it just a normal price and a pre-order price ? If it's the latter, I'm lucky to have pre-ordered one.

Champ always have prices like that, I cant read so Im not certain but some of the other kits like this have extras like ESC, or complete electrics.
I would guess the higher price is a deal price with it all.. but suffice to say with champ you only ever need to worry about the lowest price.

Champ are helping me with the DF-03 review so I am more than happy to say I am getting both my Tamiya buggys from them next month.

I've been to the R/C Champ Advisor shop in Akiharbara, Tokyo. It is packed with all kinds of model stuff. I bought a nice KO servo from them. They don't speak English in there so that was a bit difficult.

Everyone should go to Japan.

Elliott.

Maybe an epoxy and a carbon version, as they did with the Top-Forces?

Jimmy is right. I was at their Tokyo store in June and asked about why they had 4 prices for the DF-03. They had 4 packages. One was just the kit, another was with aftermarket titanium screws thrown in, one was RTR, and one more I forgot but basically they mix and match to come up with their own combo deals.

There is one guy there that spoke English when I visited. That store is huge like a supermarket for R/C gear and they even have baskets by the door as you come in.

Hi all, this is my first post so be gentle!

By the way, great site Jimmy (reviews are top notch too, clearly a lot of time and effort dedicated on your part). Just finished my first year back in the sport after a university enforced sabbatical. Currently running an X10, but can't wait to get my hands on the TRF501X!

Anyway! I threw the text through Google translator (and emailed RC-Champ to check), but as I understand it the higher priced kit comes with the front one-way unit, a Tamiya Volac MS speed controller (a rebranded KO Propo VFS-1 as far as I can tell) and a set of Proline tyres. The cheaper price is for the kit only.

Hope that helps.

Is that a Champ deal or a Tamiya deal - i cant imagine its a tamiya bundle ?

I asked champ about the one way and they didnt know a release date, I might have to get in touch and make sure its ordered.

Oh and welcome!!!! always room for more Tamiya fanatics!

Thanks, Jimmy.

I suspect it is an 'RC-Champ only' bundle. Especially considering what others have said regarding the DF-03.

I've not ordered anything yet, I'm waiting until I can get hold of a comprehensive list of components - that way I can order some spares at the same time.

Here's a scan of an article about the 501X development from the latest issue of RC Sports magazine.

Tell you what, i reckon spares are gonna be a nightmare at launch.

Tamiya Uk , really do need to get more involved, I can honestly say that at CML etc you actually speak to someone who knows what you are on about.

I remember ringing up and asking about the 501, spoke to 3 different people who kept on asking me is it a touring car

I am very keen to buy a 501, but am sadly going to wait till an official car appears and see whether i can get some parts that are prone to breaking.. knowing me id better buy another car lol. ( i currently have 2 Lazer zx5's and 2 rc10 b54's lol )

I think, you got to appreciate where Hobby Co are coming from, they deal with a WIDE range of products, and ask them anything to do with the run-of-the-mill Tamiya stuff, they are well clued up. But like anything NEW from Tamiya, until Tamiya 'officialy' release anything, nobody knows about it in there, till then.

As for spares, they are easy(ish) to come by elsewhere....

I have a 501x on pre-order, but I sure hope it performs like nothing else, because that bodyshell and wing is easily the ugliest thing I've ever seen...

Did somebody say squashed cockroach maybe?

your right, buggies made to look like wings or with a low roof always look daft. think of bigwig, predator, topforce (i think?) X Factory cars, keen hawk...

Classic lines are always best. Original CAT, Optima, Lazer...

I am sure someone will bring out a nice body shell for you...!
