Like i previously posted, I have indeed mailed a reliable company who has delivered to UK for years. They offered me the kit delivered for a price that i could not justify.Maybe thats just me but nearly £500 pounds is a little short of outrageous!!! If your a Tamiya dealer drop them a mail and get to the bottom of this. And maybe you could then offer me one at a more reasonable price

Have to agree with you, Dave, But i mailed with Hide from Champ and he told me he definititly has stock. Never had that case before that a car was available in Japan (or Singapore) before Tamiya confirmed it with at least a single poist on their website. Very weird...

I guess what I am wondering is, surged they are taking existing 511 stock (more recently came to market) and just adding the diffs. Explains price as well as it probably still has the ball diffs in it, so you get 4 diffs. Not sure it's a "Tamiya" kit per se, anyone confirmed a part number for them?

Let us know, I'd be tempted too if it had 4 diff's in it!

I'm pretty sure these are just normal TRF511 kits with the gear diffs thrown in so you get 2 ball diffs, 2 gear diffs. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Just got the confirmation from Champ that the kit definitly does come with 2 ball difs AND 2 gear diffs, i will probably order one. If you count the ball diffs alone it is a bargain.

well that depends on how much it is from Champ.

or just get a 511 kit and the 2 gear diffs from elsewhere, like HK.

Is the normal 511 generally available now? If yo it might be cheaper to buy the gear diffs alone. The price from Champ was wirtten in Pounds in some of the earleier posts: 487 Pounds

Agreed! Best thing is buy one with ball diffs and buy one or two of the gear diff units depending on whether you are going to run both front and rear gear diffs or a ball diff in the front and a gear diff in the back like how l'm going to run my 511, and yes the ball diff model is still available.

54329 DB01 Gear Differential Unit

This gear differential unit can be used to replace the kit-standard ball differential found in the DB-01 chassis and 511,502 chassis (items 58395 Durga and 58404 Baldre). It gives drivers another setting option to fine tune their off-road buggy to track conditions. The sealed gear unit differential can be fine tuned using different viscosity weight oils to control how fast or how slow you want the differential to behave. The higher viscosity the oil is the slower the differential is in movement. Compared to a standard ball differential, gear differentials require less maintenance cycles. The unit uses a 37T pulley as well as 12T and 20T bevel gears. In addition, Item 54311 TA06 Cross Shaft for Gear Differential Unit comes standard for greater durability. The Cup Joints included with this item are simultaneously available as Spare Parts (Item 51472).

Specs and Features
DB01 Gear Differential Unit x 1pc.
Compatible with DB01, TRF511, and TRF501 chassis machines.

I hope that tamiya will release as soon as possible metal bevel gears as an upgrade for this gear diff, because the plastic ones worn out very quicly
My friend has just try the ta05 ones (54312) on his 511 and found this problem

I've got my 511 diffs built up but waiting for a set up for oil? Any ideas to try out, probably Worksop will be the first test session!
I've got the metal bits for the bevel gears to sit on and I was concerned about the plastic gears aswell, they seem very fragile!

The plastics hold up to mod TC indoor, so I cant see why they should break.

Oil setup for starters: 5000 front, 1000 rear. I've found this works almost everywhere. Only smooth, high grip TC like tracks may require slightly heavier oils like +2000 all around.

For those who've built them, do they fit with the Fredrik diff covers?
