The BRCA rule on LiPo cases only applies to BRCA sanctioned events, and is:-
Lithium based (LiPo/LiFe) battery packs
must have a hard, protective case that completely
envelopes the cell(s). The case should
be made from ABS or a similar material. The
two halves of the case must be factory sealed in
a way that any attempt to open the case will
destroy the case. The only opening in the case
that is allowed, is for the exit of wires.

In my opinion, all clubs should apply the same rule for all club meetings. It is well accepted that cells are THE most dangerous item of equipment.

the lads are using all types of shells- mazda 6, dodge stratus, alfa 159 to name a few, just make sure you get a shell with a wing that'll give plenty downforce, it does make a difference
ive just bought a moorespeed dodge stratus which comes with 3 wings.
what tc you going to be running?

Hi Furball - shell makes a massive difference on a slipy wooden floor, needs to run as low as poss and have a good large spoiler. Any with "scale" spoilers or running too high will handle like a bus!
While there are lots of shels to chose from, most saloon type are basically the same. Worst I've used were MG ZS (too high) and a merc CKK GTR (too long)

Don't worry about running old model TC's. There's not a massive ammount of difference in performance from old to new. Just turn up and race, thumbs make the most difference to the lap times!
I'm running a Losi XXXS which i've had for about 4-5 year maybe, and it wasn't new when I got it!
