no problemo, that's a pleasure!

maybe Fabs has other problems... we don't know...
communication problem first, for sure... but i prefere to be "gentleman" and let him regulate it.
one day he came back. or not.

the show must go on for us

bye!

done!

i've chosen the first firm.
they are the most reactive and they already have the pieces between hands.
tomorrow or the day after i go to Bordeaux to see them.
this could be made at the beginning of August I think. i hope!
I make 10 pieces, enough for those who has contacted me.
price maximum will be 53€ (47£) + transport. (i shall negotiate to decrease it)

bye!

"i'll be back"

p.s : we gonna try to make a (little bit) longer chassis.
a carbon one (or two, or three, lol!), more flexible for dusty/sleepy tracks.
but boxes first...

Oi.. No need for that..

The gearboxes have been stuck in customs in Germany!! they then have to get to Fabs then to me...

So hopefully we should be seeing them any time now! Was hopeing before this weekend, but fingers crossed next week i reckon

The first batch we have is to test, as long as all is ok then the remainder will be done asap!

Point taken.. Fabs has worked hard to get these done in the material hes always wanted and for the right money...

First impressions on the new gearboxes are very encouraging so fingers crossed people will be glad they waited

Fabs has said a while ago he is staying of this thread until the gearboxes arrive, for obvious reasons really... and he will post a pic once he has them..

Not long now folks

FINALLY received the 6 gearboxes sample (after they spent 10 days in customs, then another few days at a place I wasn't anymore and had to wait for someone to bring them to me, but that person got ill and I had to wait even more ).

I've tested it today, ran from 1PM to 8PM, EMPTIED 8 Lipos on it, with electronics getting really really hot due to the high temperature.

Track is the toughest I've ever seen in europe, outdoors high grip carpet with mainly hairpins followed by short straights, power on, brake, turn, power, brake, big jump, etc... We run mini pins at the rear which is just killing the diffs. In fact most of the guys at the club now run geared diffs because of that.

Gearbox is running smoothly and SILENTLY which is always a good sign . It's very very similar in all aspects to the prototype gearbox I made and that Craig has been running from the beginning, so basically it's the gearbox as it was always meant to be, as opposed to how it had ended up with the other manufacturing process.

Will post 3 of those to Nick for further testing as I won't be able to run until september.

The 29 other gearboxes are on their way already, but again won't be able to post them until september as I will be away on family matter. They are not perfect and there is a bit of work to get them to fit the car, as for some reason the manufacturer blatantly ignored some of the tolerances from the drawing. I will do the work required to fit them so you won't have to do it but it is fairly time consuming (took me 2 hours to fit mine due to not having the correct tool at hand and the plastic being quite hard). On the other hand the price I got on them is UNBEATEABLE so I cannot complain too much.

In the meantime, if all you MCS owners could PM or email me and let me know of their gearbox situation so I can prioritize and be efficient upon my return, that would be great. Regarding price, it will be on a case by case basis.

For those in of you in the UK, I have arranged with Nick. I will send him all the gearboxes, and he will send them or hand them out. It will save everyone quite a bit on postage.

One last thing.

As Nick mentionned I had decided to stop posting on this thread until I had the gearboxes in my hands. I'm sure all of you understand why, and for those who wanted an update on the gearboxes, I was always available by PM. The reason why the wait has been so long was out of my hands and all I could do was wait. Now the wait is over (well nearly enough) so I hope everyone can now get on with their racing and this thread will soon resume with normal operation of setup and tips sharing.

That's great news.

on the topic of gear boxes .. i'm wondering if any owners have a similar problem as mine does. i don't have any issues with slop on the diff case BUT where the gear box is exposed (small rectangular area) at the bottom of the chassis, mine is worn all the way through until a small hole appears (around 1mm by 2mm) exposing the internal gear!
i run on dirt track (some times abrasive, depending on weather).
The bottom chassis has normal wear, certainly nothing excessive.

did i win the short straw again?
