Big Ell's got an idea, Why is it only 6 rounds? Why does it have to be 6? It's a good question, it deserves a good answer.

While your at it, why not FTD rather than round by round

I'm loving the idea of timed practice evenings too.

Not sure what would qualify as a good answer for you? It was not a highly complex decision – we wanted to run it over the summer and roughly one a month so came up with 6. If we went for more we would have more clashes with other classes/events and if we went for less we would have people who would prefer more rounds.

Just to confirm, the dates and number of rounds are as originally published. Hope you all can attend some of the meetings.

Again there is no correct decision – both have their benefits and somebody has to make the call.

My personal preference is usually for FTD but when we discussed at the committee meeting the consensus was that the potential for weather to alter the track conditions throughout the day meant we considered R by R to be fairer.

Indeed Round by round was best for the chances of condition changes etc.

As for 6 rounds that's what we worked out as it's once a month over the summer period etc.

Remember the committee work hard enough organising the meetings and running it for people. Please don't forget this. Equally some of us have a life away from the track or racing elsewhere etc.

Personally I think that we are very lucky to have a Summer Series given the size of the club. Torch has a great deal of ambition but to rush everything and risk messing it up would be daft. Better to go softly softly and build on the foundations (and finances) that the committee are creating at present. This will allow Torch to become a premium venue (eventually) in the racing calendar.

Also with additional dates for full day meetings this year is going to be a great years racing at Torch. Lets hope we can attract some big name drivers and raise awareness of our great little club.

Simple really.

FTD is really a thing of the past. It only really works when racing indoors as the track pretty much stays the same throughout the race meeting.
Outdoors however is a different ball game.
The weather plays such a big part of racing in the UK and especially where astroturf is concerned.
For example if it rains halfway through qualifying then the 'wet' heats will obviously be slower than the dry. A massive advantage will be gained by running in the dry.
Round by round evens things out over the course of qualifying hence why it's the adopted format for all off road racing at National level.
