Could be a very good day for the 4WD boys, even if my SV turns up it could be left on the side for this weekend

Really hope we have good weather. Lee if you are worried about the number of rounds, why not enter 2wd as well? You can't expect too much detail until the day and number of entrants are known. Sunday is also about attracting new members and having more competition. You can be sure Mike and co will get the most racing they can in

No more 1/8th boys as far as I'm aware, Fribbers is on holiday, and cammers and Tony RC are doing the Truggy Nats. Just me then.

As for the lay out of the day, I don't mind, I'm gonna be there because for the last 16 years I've been going to Torch on and off, they've never done an all dayer. Now I'll be there to do the following: Race, Chat, Eat, socialise, and take photos.

Though that said, I'd like to echo what JamieKerr said, a mix is good, no rushing but no sat on thumbs either.

See you all sunday.

Wow, TORCH has been around a LONG time, I didn't know that!

And never an all dayer! Wows!

Not strictly true, TORCH always used to do alldayers on bank holiday mondays when i used to race (at Titchfield Community Centre), we also used to do special events like demos at model exhibitions and away days at places like Victoria Country Park. Plus we did an inter club championships with Basingstoke, Southampton, Romsey and Us, which was 4 allday meetings, one at each club during the summer.

Simon - the club has been going for more like 25 years, and been at 5 locations over the years, and has enjoyed a very healthy membership in the past.

So hopefully this is a good step to reaching and surpassing TORCH's former glory.

Let's race...............

I think it's down to a mindset where you either go racing to get track time, or you go racing for the whole experience, and that includes a lot of time working on the cars.
Simon its just me mate, I itch to race. Can't get enough of it.

Everyone is right in their own way. We do need a good mix and all that. I am just a impatient so n so.

I would like to do 2wd aswell and I will when I get my hands on the Tamiya TRF201.

Just like Mike I am waiting on a 2wd marvel.

It should be a good day, I might run my Lunchbox in the truck race if we have one for a laugh!

If you have all looked at the weather reports its not looking good so far, lets just hope the weather prediction improves.

Never said they had never. I started in 93/94, when we out the back of Funtley Garden Centre, I used to turn up on my motorbike in the early days if my dad wouldn't give me a lift. I'm aware of the interclub thing too, and the couple of times before I started when they did the demos at the Modelville show at Crookhorn school for a couple of years.

Alas, even back in the days of the garden centre did we have around 30 drivers for a sunday morning, and a break in the middle, but I never experienced an all dayer with them. AND....AND, even then, it was Brown Jnr and Waldo who were always the quick ones.

Anyway, roll on sunday

Brown Jnr... No change there and he's even better now !

I remember doing all day meetings at the place before the garden nursery!

Mum use to take me to the garden nursey in our white volvo. I raced a Cougar 2000 and then a Losi XX. Used to pit with Gerald Page and co. Jason Moggy used to help me out etc

I quit racing around 96 I think due to getting a job at Tesco working Saturday and Sunday was double time. I then sold my gear for beer money for Uni. Wish I hadn't done that. Used to have the bright yellow Losi XX. I was crap back then.

Did a meeting at Basingstoke with Tony E running it.

You are right Simon TORCH is unique in getting a lot of racing done in a short space of time.

At bigger meetings and regionals it is very frustrating being sat around for so long for your next race.

It is one of the reasons I like TORCH so much is that we get the racing done and not sat around for no reason and they are very good at getting the racing sorted quickly.

I go racing to race, not sit around.

Lets hope we can all come to an agreement here but I am not travelling all that way to spend more time at the track but only do the same amount of racing.

I personally prefer a day at the track, and at a comfortable pace... not 4 hrs... and cant even stand still until you marshalling or racing again.. thats my view.. plus you dont get much if any time to change tweak-Fix things if broken too...

I MAY be down sunday not sure.. depends on my work load!

We'll just have to wait and see.

Also got to take into account that people will need time to charge batteries, particularly racers still running NIMHs

I ve been racing for 25 years all told (on and off), 5 years sponsored and travelled with racing to Australia, Florida, Belgium, Holland, France, Portugal etc etc. So my experience of formats is fairly good with
"IC racing"!
When I participated in 2 world championships the most frustrating part of the 2 weeks was there was very little run time. Qualifiing being 3 days only with 2 qualifiers per day. This was a staggering total of 60 mins on track for 3 days, you were waiting to up to 3 - 4 hrs between runs depending on what heat order was running. So in relation to the Torch setup you have huge differences. Tbh off the point to a degree.

Lets bullet point the positives of fast turnaround vs negative:

Positive

1. Value for Money
2. More racing
3. More fun/challenging?

Negatives

1. Wear Rate of car increases,
2. No chat time/socialising
3. No helping others
4. No fixing/breakage/improvement time
5. Less racing
6. Less time to reflect, pressurised racing

Add ons:

1. 3.5 hrs half day meetings create limitations?
2. Best fit senario to meet new and old racers to Torch?
3. More all day meets (based on success/support of ones planned)?
4. Sponsored Support from businesses like RW/Schumacher (Local RC shop)?
5. Needs of the many outway the needs of the few?
6. Voting (Membership Meeting)
7. Developing/Evolving
8. Commitment from commitee and members to support/change?
9. Track readiness for larger meetings
10. Acheving the longer term goals of the club?

Keeping everyone motivated to come back and join in with "our" club.

I believe less racing is right to enable the support factor to struggling racers, who need advice and basic help, to make sure they stay motivated to come back. I tell u one thing if I was getting my arse kicked, I would want lots more set up time to make my car faster. We need to set the rule no matter what the numbers we aim to turn the heat around at a minimum of 45 minutes. This would mean we could cater for 40 drivers comfortably and get 4 rounds and 1 final in or 3 rounds and 2 finals.

The racing would need to start no later then 915am and would look like so

Round 1 915 - 1000
Round 2 1000 - 1045
Round 3 1045 - 1130
Round 4 1130 - 1215
Finals 1215 - 1300

No breaks but you would get about 30 - 35 mins between your race including your marshalling.

I beleive this is the way forward and would keep everyone to a degree happy. I always go with the majority.

I'm sure a regular all day meeting once per month would be welcome and embraced by all.

Now lets go racing Sunday and enjoy a slower paced meeting and I will help anyone who wants the support.

Sounds good Steve! That sort of timetable for a half day meeting is spot on.

What will the weather be?

Not too bad

http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/11?area=SO31

Maybe the 2WD will get a run.. I may just book into both and then make my mind up. Aka if the 2WD is rubbish fall back to 4WD!

Sorry guys

Will not be there tomorrow, and maybe not for while while I save to buy a new car

My girlfriend and I were in an accident last night, just us, but the A3s back end span out on a greasy roundabout and saw us career up the kirb and down a 30 foot embankment through some trees, backwards, no serious injuries, except for my girlfriend who is suffering whiplash. The car looks like a write off. So really don't know what to do except save for another

Hope to be back when I can
