I've got the student edition too, and I can't see what you mean about the 'Home Groups' on the desktop. I have no such thing on there?!?

Isn't the 'Library' just 'My Documents'? I did an upgrade from Vista, so it kept all my files, so I guess it may have done that automatically.

Oh. Fair enough. I haven't got it, and never did!

Did you get it as you're at Uni, if so then I think that's so you can log on to the university's site or something similar.

I got mine as I'm at 6th Form, and don't have any of the 'Home Groups' stuff.

The task bar is still only for programs as far as I know, which is why pinning a folder simply pins the Explorer program as a whole.

In case you didn't realise, a right-click on the Explorer icon brings up a list of frequent items and the usual library ones (documents, pictures, etc.). A half-way house perhaps, but may help.

I guess you'll just have to stick with a desktop shortcut for specific folders.

No worries.

Another thought:
If you just put a shortcut on the desktop you can still quickly access it, even with a bunch of windows in the way, by clicking the little double arrow icon in the taskbar just to the right of where it says "Desktop".

Hope that helps.

No I didn't, should have.

Changed the spec and add 2 x Ati 5870 cards

Installed Windows 7 on a Dell 3100C with 2GB RAM and must say very good.

PC has Office 2007 and Kaperskey and that's it.

Does it really matter? have you found any games which struggles to cope with high res games?

I certainly haven't with my 3870x2, so the newest cards are a bit of a waste to be honest, even more so in SLI/crossfire setup :x

havent found anything that struggles on my 512mb 8600gts yet! it is overclocked, but not by much. processor is pushed more, c2duo6850 3ghz running at 3.44ghz. i gonna wait a few months before trying windows 7, will give everyone time to update their drivers and so on, also allow any issues to be corrected, knowing how bad previous microsoft os's have been at the start of their lives

Try Crysis, on the later levels at the highest graphics settings, with 8x anti-aliasing at 1600x900 etc. Then you'll understand why people put loads of money into graphics cards.
