All these re-release are making me feel my age (a young 40, might I add). But for shelf queen status, it would have to be either a Tamiya XR311 or Lambo Cheetah. I wanted one of these but a friend persuaded me not to, as they were too fragile. But I see a picture of one now, nearly 30 years on, and I feel like a kid again! |

I think it would have to be an original RC10 - Just as it was really the car to revolutionise 2wd off road to what we have today, and be competitive for SO long and win so many races.

Very interesting that only one person mentioned the Avante, which I feel is the ultimate shelf queen. Completely factory over-engineered with then space age materials and revolutionary designs throughout the car. Original NIB Avantes bring in the thousands of dollars, and used runners still cost more than most new race buggies.
Also interesting that many here mentioned the Egress, which was a simplified Avante. ![]() |

Compared to the Yokomo I was using at the time (yz870c) the Avante was positively stone age! Carbon fibre chassis, ti turnbuckles, cast magnesium alloy bulkheads and knuckles, alloy screws etc.
Plus unlike the Avante the Yokomo actually worked! The Avante was a pants car in 1987 and it still is. Its just a valuable pants car now!
