the maps are little out of date and there are some network share arrangements that have changed things a little in recent times.
o2's 3g coverage has always been poor, mostly as they didnt have to pay for a 3g license. service wise o2 and voda are pretty even.
best advice if your unsure as to what phone to get is to switch to a solo/simo/sim only plan, all networks offer them and they are a 30 day rolling agreement allowing you to move when you wish but remaining pretty cheap.
as southwell says even if voda tie up a deal they cant bring the product to market until the o2 deal expires in november
as a side note if retentions are offering you something as a customer look closely at your bill spend versus allowance its quite common to offer a cx a line rental discount on a tarif which will not cover your average usuage to generate revenue from additional call charges. customer retention is changing a lot at the moment and your time with the network is rarely considered your future spend and past contract period spend is far more important.
