These scoops have never been a problem for me indoors - I run a XX4WE with LRP quantum 2 speede and checkpoint 10x1 or V2 10x2 motors and a shell that in not worlds edition (ie no scoops to cut out) Overheating has never been an issue for me. Maybe a motor cooler is required for use between races. This is what I do at club meets (but I don't bother at regionals as the time between races is too long)

We used to run an old Yokomo 4 wheel drive, the rear diff had been assembled wrong, caused the motor and everything to overheat, hardly noticable at low speed on on the table, we were changing spurs, motors scratching our heads, make sure there aint nothing binding or too tight, possible getting tight as it gets warm or something.
