just my 2p's worth....
So with D4 mounts you can still use the original X-6 wing??? Pics?

no - they are very similar to the Losi mounts (same mounting hole centres) but a little more forgiving in a crash and cheaper too. i used a JC 6" high downforce 'V' wing with them and, given my limited driver skill, didn't notice any performance difference to the std wing at all. i think it also looks better but that's my opinion - certainly more likely to stay attached to the car

this is very interesting because i started building my 6^2 right shock tower and noticed the ripple effects too.
when i built the left shock tower, there was no ripple.
upon closer inspection, below are the visual differences:-

1. right wing mount (with ripple) has a lighter grey colour while the left wing mount (w/o ripple) has a richer dark black colour. they could be a different production batch, i don't know.
2. looking at how the 2 wing mounts sit on the shock tower, the right (grey) mount sits flushed but i can see the tiniest sliver of light between the webbing (between the 2x screw threads) and the shock tower. the left (black) mount - everything on the wing mount sits flushed against the shock tower.

just sharing my visual observation.

I've been talking with Chazz and some of the team drivers about the wing mount issues over the last week or so and believe that, as usual, the family members are correct in their observations. I want to investigate our stock and with the molding shop a bit more, but I think there has been a material error in some of the last run of wing mounts.

It really hit home last weekend when I was racing with Dan Griffin; in practice a car spun out in front of me on the straight, and I proceeded to hit the car full speed - my car spun around, hit the pit lane wall, and then flipped on down the straight away. Dan picked up my car, and the only part broken was the left wing mount nipple. Dan was pretty shocked, relating that he's had what many of the family have mentioned - breaking the wing mounts at the tower in pretty weak crashes. We talked about it some and came to the conclusion that I got my stock of wing mounts some 2+ years ago, and have been slowly using them since, never trying any of the new stock. I believe many of the other team drivers are in the same situation - running wing mounts from years ago because the old ones were in fact very tough.

I'm going to look through our stock here at X Factory carefully over the next few days, as well as check with the molding company about the materials used, and see if I can't get to the bottom of this. The mold itself is one of the original X - 6 molds from 3+ years ago, so we'll definitely take a look at that too. Thanks for your concern and patience with this.
