Adam we initially tried making the first jump longer, but it made being able to see the straight harder.

Mike the temp in the hall, the problem was the switch for the heat lamps was knocked off this means the lights would take about 50 mins to get to full brightness again, thus we had to switch the normal lights on and that means no heating.

Apart from that thanks to the people who made the journey up here, hope you didn't all have altitude sickness being this far up.

Fair enough - It was just a thought.

Altitude sickness - nah. Sun-burn - Yes. It was almost sub-tropical.... Are you sure Jarrow is in the North

Default Photo's

Hi,

I have finally got round to loading the photo's I took onto photobucket, not brilliant but the Sony cybershot isn't the best for this sort of thing.....

http://s282.photobucket.com/albums/k...or%20Regional/

If anyone else has some photos I would like to get copies if possible, first for the JORCR website and also for the school.

Jeff could I get a copy of all the video you took?

Thanks and enjoy...

Great video there jeff. Harveys arm is steady on the camera. Its good to see a certain F1 driver cut the track after he makes a mistake.... its about 2 mins and 50 seconds in...

Did you watch the Start were Adam got punted off by car 3 then in next turn car 5 basically they used is car as a brake. Started 2nd and was 10 th by fourth corner.
If we had any referess?? at the meeting may be the F2 and F3 would not have cut the track as they could not negociate the obstacle in front of the Rostrum.
I would have probaly disquailified about 6 drives if I had been a ref.

I saw no reason to give a penalty to give a penalty to James Chappell.

Its horrible when you make no mistakes and another driver takes you out. And if 2 or 3 do it within a short space of time then its very frustrating. But all you can do is battle on, keep it clean and try your best. After all 2 wrongs don't make a right...

I started 7th or 8th, cant remember, and managed to take it slow and drive round the few cars that crashed, and the drivers behind me followed me, very slowly for the first 4 or 5 corners. Its just a mutual understanding that you follow like a train for the first lap or so before settling into the race. It seems the guys at the back of the grid understood this. Why not the guys at the fornt. It is very frustrating.

I cant comment on individual take outs, as I was racing, butI think we should make a point of keeping it tidy for atleast the first lap. Why is everyone so desperate to challenge in the first 20 seconds, when we have 5 minutes?

How about a beep to start the race, and a beep after 20 seconds to start overtaking?

Because it's a race, not a formation driving lesson

Chris. We have talked about this before. Theres nothing worse than setting off 1,2 or 3 in a final and getting wiped out by somebody far too keen to make a move on the 1st corner. If somebody does that to you then the whole of your race is over. If you get wiped out 3 minutes in it is a totally different feeling as you just get back on track again. It should be a gentlemans agreement that the 1st lap should be took easier in finals.
Not formation driving but just idy driving.

It would be a race over 4mins 40 seconds, and not just pot luck by trusting the idiot from behind doesnt use your car as a brake in the first corner. Its just a race with a rolling start.

Or you could have a 5 minute 20 race, with no overtaking in first 20 seconds.

Chris, it's not like you're racing in the bottom final - you're talking about the A!! It has to be assumed that anyone who is good enough to get into the A in our region has the talent and restraint to be able to drive in the correct manor (having bever made the A, I wouldn't know)
So in theory these are the best in the region

Yeah, fair enough Col, I was just throwing an idea around.

You would think so wouldn't you.

Some people just get too excited and the red mist decends, i am a slow starter in qualifying and finals i would rather lose a second on the first lap than get caught up with someone and lose 5.

There's always two sides to a story remember, being an F1 running at regionals can be hard work depending on who you are racing against and the flat out speed difference between different people. When there's a couple of seconds a lap difference between the top and the bottom of the final, the closing speed between cars can be really high and hard to react to.

Looking a the video of the track (wish I'd been able to go!) it looks like it rewarded being a bit steady, so there may have been cars in the final who didn't have the ultimate speed of the top few. Combine high closing speed with a tight/narrow track and you are going to get cars running into each other!

Totally agree and I think sometimes the A final is suprisingly clean with some excellent close racing, but there is the odd occassion where a pile up occurrs... But at the end of the day I dont think there's anything wrong with the rules or the way we currently run events...
