Forgot to mention if you've raced before you will need brca licence. Of you've never raced or held a licence before you get 3 goes before you need a licence.

what tires are a good staring point, i have some mini pins and mini spikes for the rears and mini pins and cut staggered for the front?

Mini spikes on the rear stagger ribs on the front is the way to go.
