Harper Adams is just the name of the college
the track is built & the meeting is run by the DXR guys
they will facilitate the meeting on behalf of major event sponsors ie Proline or Neo-buggy

you're looking at upwards of 25 grand to put on a big meeting there

If your still thinking of a destination what about Watford, as the leisure centre is well sorted for a big race event. The guys that run the club can handle a big event as well.

Or then again Worksop as they have always done big events, as well as Ellesmere port (I think thats where it is), on the outskirts of Liverpool.

Im up for it, even if I do come dead last.

You'd think at 25 grand they wouldn't mind too much if you had another two days worth of racing bringing additional revenue. You'd have to find a way of selling it to the sponsors as a crossover effect, with the nitro guys coming a little closer to electric and vice versa. And with a couple of americans being there already...

Thats not a daft idea,I know a lot hangs on the collage being on holiday thus not needing the hall, but that has to be the best track I have ever raced on in the uk and sometimes it seams incredable to put so much time and effort in for 3 days racing ( I have seen how hard those DXR boys work...Hats off!!), but if you used it for longer the cost of the hall and the hire of scafolding etc should be covred by the entry of 240 poss drivers for 2wd and 4wd, The track lasts really well and even the pipe is the right size for 10th cars and a track of that standard would draw drivers from far and wide, could become one of the largest events in the world.

Could this be worth the BRCA having a think...............

DXR's Wezzer comes on here most days so i'm sure he'll see this thread & leave his thoughts

we were going to run our tenth cars around the Neo track one evening after the main racing at the last meeting but with such a long day & tight scedule we were all just happy to go to bed instead

the DXR guys are THE guys to build you a Kick ass track at the best venue in the country! its not just the fact that its the biggest indoor soil hall in Europe you also get the very cheap onsite accomodation

if you had to race at a bigger meeting elsewhere the full price hotel etc for 3 or 4 nights would make it as expensive as going to the Euros

if you can find enough sponsorship to make it happen then get in contact

Default Event

Stu, I'd be there as long as it does not clash with any other meetings - think we need more big events to cater for people who miss out on nationals, europeans, belgium etc

Stu, why not run it as a oOple GP? I'm sure a meeting like that would be a sell out and would be attended by many top drivers both here in the UK and from abroad. If your local club ran the meeting and you could ask the local news station to cover it to raise the profile of racing in your area. Just an idea..

Worksop are going to hold a British Indoor International Grand Prix either this year or next, Schumacher would support it, there would be a control tyre (yellow minipin). Not saying any more as this is Stu's thread.

I'd deffo be interested, iv not had chance to even go club racing in prob 4 weeks now and i missed the last regional due to work commitments.

Manchester area used to have Roche valley midweek which the likes of Mr may, long and me used to attend regularly, we also had fitton hill (oldham) indoor on friday night, and even on sundays. alongside bury.

I also remember watching a few large meetings at leigh which were attended by the ASL squad as i used to call them... anyone remember that place lol.. I bought all my gear from them a long time ago

Sadly my racing has taken a back burner recently and i so miss the sport, I'd love a venue mid week as i think it could do quite well.

If you can arrange anything stu, id be interested.

Col.

Sounds great. I raced at Petit in Paris last November which was a good laugh, an equivalent type event over here and open to our mates on the continent would be cool. I also like the idea of an 'Oople GP'..there's a plan in there somewhere guys..

It would take serious organising and commitment to pull off successfully, but would surely be awesome.

I was at the Petit Race too, it was ace, although no shop! and nowhere to buy tyres... something to bear in mind if stu does put a meeting on for the international competitors

Last year there was a big race meeting in france, in laon. Euro indoor race or something. They had a meeting for nitro in 1 weekend, and in the next weekend they had 1 for electro, and it was nice.

I would be up for it Woody. Sounds great as long as I can get a pass and it does not clash with any of my other commitments.

Yo
i know in the past that the cost of running a 10th meeting at DXR/Harper would of put it of our reach BUT we never say never and IF we can get some serious sponsors on board then maybe it will happen.
i know 1/8th electric has been discussed on this forum running along side the gas so maybe it could all tie in together and become a big off road dirt fest lol
me , lewis and cam are getting together to discuss future plans soon anyhow so i will bring up the leccy side of it and see what route we want to take .
thanks for the kind comments about DXR though guys and i will keep you all posted
