in belgium/holland we never do it, only when the marshall has his back towards you we might do it untill he turns around and then stop. We yell most of the time... (and sometimes throw insults, just out of frustration )

There are obviously exceptions the the rules, but in my experience the better the driver, the worse the marshalling.
Think about it this way - the new or younger driver is all revved up and keen to do the right thing. He may be clumsy, but he means well. The better driver has done it all before a million times and would rather stand next to his fellow good driver and chat than marshal properly. Think about it! How many times have you seen (or even done) this?

I think a lot of the top drivers are excellent marshalls actually..!

I think it is a mix, there are good and poor marshalls across the F1-F5 range. Overall I think most people do their best though and you get marshalled well more than you do poorly. Track design which places marshalls looking in two directions causes issues.. and if the marshal is lookng the "wrong" way when you crash then it always seems like an eternity for the marshall to hear your stabbing at the throttle and turn around... of course many drivers use this split second to start shouting abuse.. Marshalls dont have eyes in the back of their heads, nether do they have a "spidy sense".

Maybe a sensor in the car and a sounder that is triggered if the car is stationary or unside down.. or run it from channel three on the Rx and use the button on the Tx to ask for assistance.. Syththesized voice: "I say my good man, i seem to have got my car stuck on the hose, would you mind awfully by giving me a push?"

I agree with quite A few points raised here...
1. If you crash its your fault not the marshalls so get over it.
2. Yes the burns do hurt a lot!
3. In my experience, generally the better drivers are the first to complain and the last to react when marshalling (not all though)

Now I'm not the best Marshall, but I do my best, heck I'll sprint to a car over the other side of the track of I need to, and I generally come back from marshalling a bit "tired" from running so much!

And I'm done
