Hello Jimmy and the guys! Had a "few" drinks last night with the drivers and the wasacross crew. Great race and great driving from Hupo and Neil, the last A-main was probably the most exciting race I've ever seen!
I took a few pics during the week: http://www.khendricksson.1g.fi/kuvat...percross+2007/ Pics from day 6 still to come. |

We just got back - with the oople.com downtime on saturday I didn't get chance to update the race report but there is a lot to come. Thanks to the organizers who did an amazing job and created the most professionally run event I've ever seen.

Coverage was awesome, event looked very impressive 'pro-job', I watched all day (hung over) it was as entertaining as watching something like F1 and oOples updates all week were brilliant. Be nice if one day big RC events will get live TV coverage.
Was a shame oOple overloaded during the finals, it was handy being able to communicate with Copter! By the way ace camera work it was superb during the finals, jump comp was funny as well. Congratulations to Mr Hupo on a fully deserved 4wd win; of course I would love to have seen a Brit win but anyone who can absorb that kinda of pressure lap after lap in the 3rd A leg completely deserved the win. I can’t imagine how you do that without cracking and making an error, was very impressive; I was watching and just waiting for the mistake… pretty amazing stuff. I captured a little clip from Saturday as I thought Lee would get Jigsaw7 a mention, ta Lee, good work dude. http://www.jigsaw7.com/uploads/bigkidstuff/J7.wmv |

Got home last night and now I finally have time to write here again.
I hope you all had great time watching the event. Hopefully my posts here in the forum too helped you to follow the situation. I tried to post all relevant (and public) information here as soon as I was able to before the site went down. Price giving ceremony was a bit hard to film and I was nearly hanging out from the timing booth window to get suitable angle and holding the camera on my hand at the same time. This was because I wasn't able to move camera much to keep the connection with PC that was encoding the stream. Hopefully anyway you saw something at least. ![]() And big thanks to all drivers who came to the event. All feedback from the live stream is welcome. I know that the audio wasn't the best possible but we really tried to make it better. It was just that both microphones we tried didn't work (mono and stereo) and in the end we had normal stereo headphones (small earplug ones) working as a microphone and hanging out from the window. They worked but weren't sensitive enough. In the end when I was filming price giving ceremony I took the headphones away and used the cameras build-in microphone so levels should have been better then (?). Reason why we didn't use that build-in microphone during the finals etc was that camera was placed inside timing booth and we had conversations there that we didn't want to get into the live stream since it picked up pretty much everything from the room. In case you want to use same kind of solution at your upcoming events, I can make a small guide how to setup system like this. It's possible to use pretty much any camera, so normal webcam will do as well but quality ain't going to be that good. Same goes for the audio. -- Best regards, Matti Korvenmaa, Chief Timekeeper / Euros 2007

We arrived home early yesterday evening (minus our check-in luggage which missed the connecting flight in Helsinki!), completely shattered after a great week of racing and celebrating.
I'm absolutely amazed at the amount of time, organising, and dedication that has gone into the running of this Euros event, it was second to none. The venue was fantastic as you've probably all gathered by now; track looked ace (even though I didn't have chance to drive around it myself - I broke Jimmys car last year when I tried out the Austria track). The organisers had thought of pretty much everything - and then some. I was suprised to hear that some of their plans were unable to be carried out due to time running out - I think the event was so full-on I can't imagine that it could have been any better if they'd tried. There were a huge amount of people involved in the smooth running of this race, I think between 90-100 in all throughout the course of the week. I have to say that having access to on-site internet connection made our lives a lot easier, it meant that Jimmy was able to update the report throughout the day, rather than having to rush it before having to drive out to find a 'hot-spot'. We were able to relax much more in the evenings because of this. Also when our laptop had problems latching on to the wireless connection the organisers were fantastic at trying to get that working for us, and when all else failed they very kindly provided us with a wired connection so oOple could be kept up to date. So thanks a million for that ![]() Big thanks also to all the help from timekeeping / race office for providing photo-copies of the results, and of course to Scotty (even though Jimmy crashed every time you said he was in the lead ![]() I thought the jump contest was a great idea and was exciting to watch, it's ironic how many cars ramped off the triple in the contest without breaking, yet during races was the cause of a number of car breakages (Tricky in the second leg of the A final being one, I think?). Having an official Euros hotel was good too, not just for the UK team, but for all teams who chose to stay there, it was nice mixing with people who are too busy being superstar racers in the daytime. And finally a massive thanks to everyone who helped us out with spare parts, tyres, set-ups, Vodka, and great company throughout the week. Hope everyone has had a safe journey home (preferably with their luggage), Vicky x

Nope...
go to http://www.oople.com/rc/photos/euros2007/ and wait for it to load. There's only a report and a few pics for each day at the moment, but I'm sure Jimmy and Vicky will have the full galleries up for each day soon. |
