Good job Mikey
I wasn't worried though about you trying the car, I was worried about you and the Mrs if she finds out you bought another car

So for those who've built it, are you running same shimming as suggested in the manual for the gearboxes?

Yes for now i built as per manual and it worked. Have you already built yours, Dave? Would you suggest other shimming than in the manual? Maybe Lee has answer to that question.
I alway shad the problem with the soft B44 Gearcases that i never knew how hard to screw the halves together to not have any influence on the play. Also the Tamiya Gearboxes are MUCH harder than the B44 ones and also the Tamiya Bearings seem to be made of better quality than the B44 ones.

That's my plan too, ideally I'd probably add one more shim to tighten the rear, front felt ideal for a pre-run in state!

Well, gave mine it's first run in the final at West Bridgford today, was very impressed, silky smooth and familiar whilst feeling a little better in some area's, steering felt quite different too.

Ran lovely, from what I could see after the race I got the fastest race lap, not bad considering it was literally the first run, hadn't had a shake down at home or anything and had ran the 511 up to that point!

Need to sort some stuff on the 511 before a direct comparison becomes valid, but worst case it's a very very good car!!

For anyone who's not yet seen enough of the TRF502X, you can check out a build review @ http://kentech.blogs.se/

First part posted. More will be added whenever I have time. Should have it all up during the next few days though.

Just finished building my 502. It went together very well, especially as i pre-tapped all the plastic M3 holes.

Everything fits together really well and worth every penny because of the quality.

The only area i was concerned with was the outdrive off the back of the centre slipper unit, seems like a lot of power to put through 1 little grub screw, so i may consider putting another flat spot on the opposite side and adding a 2nd grub-screw.

Also, installing your electrics is quite tight, but i do run a Kinetic which has a large footprint, may consider running a Tekin RS some time in the future.

Just a quick pic, as i physically cant type because of the blisters on my hands.lol

Any idea where I can order those gear box cases (a-parts) for 502x?

I have ordered 2x the parts tree with the Gearboxes at RC Champ in Japan last week. They have to be special ordered from Tamiya which could take up to 14 days they said. If you want i can sell you one parts tree on if i receive them.

I have them ordered too, but Champ said to me today that the gearbox case still isn't released, and Tamiya don't yet have a release date for them

Am well nervous driving the 502 in the meantime!

It's lovely to drive mind, so smooth! One thing I've noticed is there is more camber change under cornering than the 511, I assume due to camber link heights, does anyone have a camber setting that works well? mine seems good anyway but just in case I am missing a trick!

Ive only done 1 meeting with mine and already love it. Its easy to drive straight out of the box. Im sure after a few minor tweaks it'll dominate like the 511 and 501.

Its also a very well thought out car, and build quality is THE best out there.

By the sounds of it that is the case for most parts on the 502x, maybe xmas has abit to do with it with places closing.
