hello guys!

Just bought an used Mad Rat. Iam looking for rear tires with long-life in good price. Any ideas? Somebody told me that Jconcept Goose Bumps have good price and they are good tires. But as i know it isnt a long life tyre.
I can order from ebay, or rcmart too if i will not find items in local store, so give me some hint please!

Goose bumps and flip outs? both last long but they are dirt tyres, so long as you only use them on dirt they stick well and last long. But there are better tyres for other kinds of tracks

Well, most wanna ride on offroad stages, but i'd like to fun on the streets too. So if there is a tire for both surface that would be great.

Hello guys again!

So, there is an opportunity to change my Mad Rat to a HPi E-firestorm. This "upgrade" would costs me only about 10-20 usd, but a lot of time to sell the MR etc.
So what if I buy similar wheels as E-firestorm has. Can the MadRat be a good car as E-firestorm with bigger wheels?

Bigger wheels on the Madrat makes it a Macnum

I own All 3 cars...a Macnum, E-Firestorm and I have an X-pro... all perform very well and all are excellent chassis for modifications.

I have Alloy parts on my X-Pro and E-Firestorm for looks and performance.

The E-Firestorm does have better shocks than the Macnum\Madrat but they will also fit the Ansmann cars if you want to upgrade them.

As far as swaping a Madrat for an E-Firestorm...well... kinda depends. Around where I live people race Buggies more than Truggies so I'd stick with the Madrat for racing. If you are just bashing around then you can add truggy wheels to the Madrat and they will allow you to cover more ground.

You could get E-Firestorm wheels and tyres and you'd not notice much differance

Wheels

Rear Tyres

Front Tyres

So..basically it's down to you and what you want to do

... if you want to be competitive with and race\bash Truggies then get the E-Firestorm. If you want to bash around and race buggies...keep the Madrat.

On the track buggies and truggies don't mix, so check your local scene if you are racing.

Thanks for your answer, you helped so much. I will keep this Rat then. Only one question left. Do i need longer front shafts to attach wheels like Firestorm has? The Mad Rats shaft is 2x9.8mm.

mod: ohh, and about a bl motor: i have an LRP Sphere esc for sensor motors. Any tips for a new motor? One guy offered me a TP540-11-5T hobbyking motor. Well i dont wanna go under 11T so any opinion about this HK motor or other advise?

Hello guys again.

I have three questions:

1. I just bought a TP540 11.5T 3350 kv motor for this car. Is it any way to calculate the optimal motor pinion for this motor? Spur is 80T, wheel size is ~82mm.

2. As i know motor pinion is 48dp. Can i use all 48dp pinion what i find in the market? (E-firestorm's etc)

3. I heard that maybe i will have problems with the ball differential. The rumor is its hard to setup this differential and if it isnt done good enough it could "die".
Is there any upgrade kit to get a better differential, bevel gear for example?

I would gear it on a 28 pinion

Yes any 48dp will do

As for the diff if you build it as by my instructions on annother thread on here it will tell you how to build it perfect

Well, I dont wanna make new topics for my answers so I continue my noobing here.

I already asked about tyres, but iam still before buying new ones. I was checked a lot of stores, but i didnt find any tyres for Mad Rats rear wheel, only some JConcepts series. But they are all spiny and wears out so fast on asphalt.
For 1:8 i found lot of bad ass tyres, but for 1:10 i cannot find wide "rally" type which is under 100mm diameter.
I am looking for something like this, cool for onroad and offroad terrains. http://www.galaxyhobby.ca/images/Galaxy/HPI4456.jpg
I can purchase new wheels too if its needed, just i dont wanna bigger tyres then 100mm diameter.

Any ideas?

Have a look at Proline Road Rage or Dirt Hawgs, or Traxxas Anacondas (for the Bandit buggy). Any tyre that is for buggies and is '2.2' (ie. for rims 2.2 inches in diameter) should work.

You could get one of the daft Ansmann Hot Rod kits - you'd get a full set of road wheels and a complete car in spares - sell the shell!

I made up a small steel tube to go in the hub between the bearings that has solved it for me also the ansmann Ali hex solves the problem too
