OK please educate me as to what motor and tires to use (I will be running a 2wd with 2.2s) and where to get them from? I haven't raced buggies since 1998 so I am very much out of touch when it comes to the latest sticky black spinney things.

Don't worry I'm not going to arrive and run away with the honours (I've never been an A finalist) but I don't want to be stuck after a long journey doing dough nuts all night either

Thanks.

Schumacher yellow mini spikes will be the best tyre to be on, they only come in 2.2's these days.

I believe it's any motor up to a 19t spec motor, so to be honest any 19t motor would be ideal. I'm hopefully going to have a 19t motor in each car though with the very old cells I'll have in the 4wd they might not even last 5 minutes, it will be a laugh though either way! I also tried a stock motr in the 4wd and whilst it wasn't fast, it wasn't as bad as I feared.

So mini spikes good, mini pins bad/ not allowed correct?

No mini-pins.
We took that decision early on last year, both to keep it 'old(er)-skool' and to avoid excess stress on the cars from too much grip on the carpet sections.

The mini-spikes work well all round, possiby even better on the dusty bits of floor.

Excuse my total racing ignorance, what are the tyres on my Optima then, are they legal for the race?
Cheers Tim

You might want to invest in some Lazer ZX5/ZXR/ZX wheels and yellow minispikes. You might find the standard Optima kit tyres a little hard and difficult to control on the slippy floor.

I've got loads of ZX wheels/tyres as I bought a pair with 30 or so spares, and my Cat 2000 arrived today with 4 new mini spike rears as well, so I'll bring a selection along if I make it, always a problem I work evenings unfortunately

I understand the committee has decided to limit motor choice to 540 sealed cans, what exactly are we talking here, Tamiya silver can motors or any sealed can motor? I ask as I need to go and buy something to run.

Thanks.

Naaaa, don't worry about that, just bring whatever you have got - as long as it's not a lower wind that 19 you'll be with the rest of us.

I bought a set of Schumacher 2.2 yellow mini spikes standard rear and narrow fronts, hopefully they will be OK.

It was a real shame you were not too well, the mid looked the dogs on the track, first to 16 laps if I remember right.

Can't wait 'till the next meeting - December 8th.

Stu, I loved driving it, it really was proper good everywhere except utterly dire on the jump, like comedy bad. A drunken hippo on rollerskates would be more consistant.

Who won though, top 3???

Oh I can't make the next one

I think it was G, me, Damian then Jim, not sure of the rest.

The XLS was totally poo on the jump also, the mats under the carpet just made the rear end bounce over the top, downslope or die. I was ace everywhere else though.
