OR a marquee with a band a bar and Stu Evans raving like a trooper!! GO RHR oople race

The first priority when choosing a track for a national should be is the track good enough. There were two tracks last year that were not so they shouldn't have got past go, but they did because they apparently ticked all the other boxes. Hopefully, this time it will be different

Last year the tracks were chosen by committee, this year its changed and there are boxes to tick for facilities etc so its actually the other way round

RHRW is a class meeting and the marquee is amazing, last time I went there about two months ago the straight was like racing on long carpet, so if they get a National I hope they sort that out. But the best thing about RHRW is the curry house down the road and the pubs. The fact Boothy comes and hates curry and always has CHICKEN AND CHIPS!!!! Oh and the year before Moss and Jonsey had a full meal (including popadoms) and beer and left before the bill was paid, was okay though they left a £10 each!!!

I like EP too, the track I actual like not sure about the travelling 4/5 hours its a long time in a car with Doddy. But I guess it’s the same for people down south coming up north to Southport!! One thing that I don’t like (maybe it’s a London thing) is having to pay to put a tent in the field, can understand a caravan but a tent!!

Of course you can all see this for yourself but after 1000 views, according to this poll this years national tracks should be:

RHR
Southport
Stotfold : Kidderminster
Eden Park
Silverstone

Oswestry / Somewhere Else for F2's F345's

We should see what the actual tracks are fairly soon

Hay up J,

Well if you look at the poll with the last few years nationals in, I think the racers should have a say. I understand that there are other things that need to be considered, like facilities etc etc.....

Not really sure why races don’t fill a form in online at the end of season and we mark each event, let say 1 to 10 (1 being the favourite best event) which helps the BRCA choose.

that was the plan, unfortunately the tracks didn't bother to complete the requested info, so they were chosen by the committee again, it should also be pointed out that of the 9 people voting 5 were national drivers including 3 F1's

Can someone explain to me why Oswestry is "low" on the poll, but at the closing date for entries on the last 2 years is the most popular??
It doesnt make sense.

I did wonder that too...it's very popular amongst racers once the series is running...the grass really levels the field so there is no home advantage...and the event as a whole is really very liked by people from what I've seen, but not necessarily just because of the track itself...if you see what I mean?

The question made me think track design...so I voted for my personal fav on that basis, which is RHR...despite loving the Oswestry national as a great racing event!

I also wondered if it might just be that as a track it only gets raced on once a year at the national...whereas the other tracks are all purpose built permanent venues where the tracks themselves are all more developed shape wise, and people run at those for other events, club meetings, regionals, etc, etc.

I personally would be disappointed if Oswestry didn't get a national!

It would be nice to see a national back a Eden Park, The Losi Super Cup meeting at Eden was top class!

IMO and this is not a dig.....

Ozfest is a good meeting and in the years gone by I have helped build the track, I was even a member of the club for years. But with racing now in the north-west I don't really get chance to go much.

The track is just not as good as Southport, EPRW, RHRW, Silverstone and others. Yes you get a layout that no one else has raced on, but its just not as good and National's should be the very very best in the country and I think the poll shows this.

This is my point to the poll, what if RHRW or Southport don't get a national there both first and second voted openly by the racers and oople members.

Can it be made public who was voting, can I find that information anywhere John ? I guess it will be made public soon with the venues and dates.

Also John if tracks did not fill information in that is required by the BRCA, why would they even be considered for National?

9 people does not seem many people if there are 8 events.

If you click on the number of votes to the right, it changes the display to which oOple member names have voted.

Tony, what would be a more interesting vote, would be which tracks people don't want to go to/least favourite. Would eliminate the trend of loyalty voting for most favourite.

Tony,

Think you hit the nail on the head - think osfest as a whole is great with facilities, space, entertainment etc. But I usually do very poor as its all on the day whereas southport hold regular meetings on a national track that allow you to practice and try things. All the other national tracks allow you to do this and although the track is altered you do get to know what the surface etc is like
