so 5 or 6 teams spread over 6 heats?? instead of stressful endurance racing??
Stressful no way!

It would actually just be like heats, but without the breaks in between!
ans you would still have to swap drivers every 5-7 mins anyway. So you would get loads more track time!

kieghtly formatt was the best big teams 10 min per car per person but 1 transponder
consistency is the key to endurance i did two at kieghthly they are bloody great fun
six per team thsts ten min per hour to race and ten for marshalling you sometmes get more when people crash but ya actually get more track time than a race day in the same amount of time. and the computer runs auto . teams get laps deducted for not marshalling . but always enjoyed em and the days went well .
the long track tme brings ya driving skill up as well ya learn to relax
batteries do last longer than ya think to 10 min easy on 3000s

At the Ebor 24hr race (which is provisionally booked for 11/12 feb 2012 by the way...) we ran a B44 with a 8.5 running 22min between battery changes, 3 sets of batteries per driver then a driver swap. PT's were mandatory as a handout obviously wont last 24hrs...

If you're going to use handouts that's great. Keep the number of teams to less than 10 then both number 1's can be used on the same team. Once the race in underway the computer doesn't mind which colour it is, just the number.

That's a great idea, so on can be charging as the other is in the car.
10 teams should be more than enough.

Part of the point at Keighley was the need to transfer the transponder over - it made changeovers a 3 person affair though (one on, one off and one to switch the transponder over). We had 3 Bmax's in the team, and did talk about having 1 shell with the transponder mounted and swapped between chassis but didn't bother in the end.

One thing to remember about the time is that in order for the team to work all racers must be there virtually all the time. IE in a 6 hour race, you can't leave early. So its better to start with shorter events - as I said, the 4 hour ones were plenty long enough.
In fact, I should also point out that until we have power at the track, recharging is going to present an issue. We had problems at Keighley when we killed my 12V - another team had to retire when their genny died.

Marshalling is also an issue - should be 10 min stints, but I spent 30 mins out there because nobody came to replace me and we got disqualified if I left!

Put plenty on juice in your cars!
Run the car for half hour every 2-3 hours?

But if you have 6-7 in a team that's 6-7 chargers. it shouldn't be an issue its not normally a problem on a normal day.

Yep, this sounds like fun. Mixed classes? Reckon my SCTE will still be running after everything else is a pile of spares... Not that I'd take anyone out

Si, I was more commenting on the battery life of the transponders than meaning running 2 at the same time.

They lasted a 4 hour race fine, with a 30 min halt when the loop died, and another 10 when Rob Mills knocked a marshal out!

Keighley just did 'run whatever' so I used 2 different 4wds and a truck, Johnny ran 4wd and truck, Rob 2wd and 4wd etc.
