So, just to clarify the situation...
I live in York and I know you're not supposed to park on the pitch, but there was a van parked there belonging to a club member?

James has raced at Bury as long as its been there, but he is not a regular. Until recently, the most effective way to the track was across the grass, because when we had our own car park the footballers used to park in a way that blocked our road access to it!
Because he is an old member, and knew where we are and when we race without checking, he didn't look on Oople or our website as he didn't need to. He just turned up and went to the track the same way he always did.
There are no signs around so no other way to tell.

Yes that makes James in the wrong, but then again if I went to say Southport and they'd changed how they get in, I wouldn't know either.

I remember last year when Johnny went cross country in his red van right across their pitch spraying mud all over. That day iirc they purposefully blocked access to the old track and were being particularly troublesome

Default Possible Solution

'he said, she said' is a childish arguement the Complainant will use, whereas we just need a more controlled and adult approach. The Council will initially want to see the club operate an effective Due Dilligence approach such as;

Send a letter to each member explaining the parking situation with if possible an aerial photo,

Put laminated A4 signs around the track and replace them when they are lost or stolen,

Politely move racers cars when transgressions are seen,

Have 2 people present during discussions with footballers representatives, politely asking them to leave if language is foul or their behaviour is unreasonable.

Having this type of policy sent to the council to allay their fears of an ongoing issue may be helpful and make it easier to begin discussions over parking/moving containers etc. The council are the ones we need on side so if we are structured and polite we can only put the footballers on the back foot and expose their aggression as misplaced and childish.

We can then look at the pitting and gazebos whilst disregarding the opinions of non racers without watching our backs.

Just a thought.

Default There's money somewhere.

Went down today and there is a barrier where James drove through so it shouldn't happen again. Somebody knows where the strings are.

its funny how the club seems to be getting various different complaints now that this particular football chairman is there (silver spoon in mouth i say) and to say that the racing club has been there a long time and now the members are growing fast, at the end of the day even the small person gets his say in something so my be we should ask the council for things like things to stop vandals and a perpous built car park besides the club for members of the race club so that the parking is allocated to an area and that way the footballers cant complain if they can get a barrier built in a day they we should get that sort of responce for our club

Whats the crack with the rebuild of the centre, is it a full rebuild and new parking/access roads?

Is anything on the table from the council about their plans, obviously we could end up with a purpose built track they paid for (not sure) no one can get to, if they respond to logic then a club letter might work??

Whatever they spent on the track will be a hell of a lot less than they are spending now on the plans and the new barrier at a days notice.

Default Club spokesperson

I fully agree with Steve on this one.

I have pm Roger offering my services to speak directly with the council on behalf of the club. As an ex footballer, I can actually see both sides and it is clear that the footballers have the upper hand at the moment simply because the people who act on behalf of the council in this area know little about our club needs.
