I dont see the point in lipo for the moment in my opinion. The reason being that it means that people could have to buy 2 different types of cells if they were going to do the nationals and regionals.

Thats a good point i had never thought of, even though only one lipo is actually needed thats still minimum of £50, plus probably £200+ for cells for nationals its getting pricey, i say when LiPo is legal for national use then we can use it in regionals, lets just hope this happens sooner than later as i for one cant wait to move to this new technology.

but then shouldn't we all run same motors, as our 5.5 is quicker than your 6.5 isn't that just as unfair

I agree with Ben on this one. It might be un-fair for those who currently cannot either afford Lipo batteries or who would need to buy a new charger to run them, which could be a bit pricey for some people.

but wouldnt they lipo cells have to be tested with PW. Would they be ready in time. Just think how long it took for the national cell lists to be released?

the idea of regionals is to build up to nationals, so why not encourage new comers to do them with what thay have or a cheaper solution, ben correct me but you have beat me every round running nimh while i have run lipo at worksop so you can use your national cells at regional and still beat me. besides it aint going to happen this year in any regionals, non can run lipo unless the driver does not wantto score points/F grading and run in a seperate final

Does anyone honestly believe that their laptimes would improve in performance by making their car quicker? If so why are you not running 3.5 Brushless motors?
Lipo does not offer a performance advantage that cannot already be achieved with NiMH. If allowed I'm sure they would still run to the same weight limits so theres no advantage there. The advantage of running Lipo is that it allows us to practice for when they become legal at nationals (IF it gets proposed and passed at the AGM). It also gives for a much more relaxed days racing in my experience. It also means that people who use Lipo can save there NiMH batteries for national events only, so they will be in better condition for the most important meetings. I was under the impression that it could not be run under BRCA rules, but after hearing that other regions are planning on allowing it why shouldn't? |

Whats the advantage of using lipo, if the cars are at the weight limit and we already have more power than we can handle, whats the point?
Plus if we went lipo, it would take all the fun out of dodging flying Nimh cells. ![]() |

Tom, that made alot of sense in terms of weight limits, relaxed racing and using LiPo to save your best NiMhs for nats, im ight have to change my tune shortly

right i will say that NO regional can run lipo for 2008, clubs can as they wish,well to be exact they can run them BUT the driver will need to run a seperate final and wont score points/F grading
this comes to me from PW,
