forgot to add.. brushless systems also save you time at meetings as you dont have to spend the time changing brushes and skimming the comm etc.

I have to admit, i do like my orion motor, it feels so smooth compared to others i have tried, almost feels like a brushed motor.
Oh, and orange is better ![]()

Because they are much more reliable and tuned better as ive seen many of the makes of motor break down in more than one way and oh yeah you spelt conclusion wrong tis not conclution haha

![]() possibly in the same way you come up with your conclusions. don't be such a hipocrite ![]() Like matt and barnyard have said, if buying new i would go for a Brushless system, due to almost no maintenance and will be much cheaper in the long run. However, if you already own a comm lathe then brushed will be just as easy. Personally, (if i was buying now) i would go for brushless, just due to ease of use and less maintenance etc. basically what others have already said ![]() enjoy... |

The smoothness of the motor can be changed by the setup of the speed controler others will have it setup differently to yours thus it feeling different

Well ive seen novak motors fail but ive never seen and orion/ peak motor fail and this makes me think that orion/peak motors are better motors.
the novak motor i saw fail was mike elliots andthe rotor snaped in half. A

I'll agree with what most people have said on here that brushless is the way to go. All i've done to my LRP motor in a year is oil the bearings. I'll admit that i have sent 1 motor back but that was my fault as i got the sensor wet.

In case anyone can have been bothered to read through the bitching, the other main reason from the worlds was existing sponsorship arrangements, all the guys running that high will be majorly backed and you run what you're asked to to keep your 'ride'.

correct dan at that level you r told to run certain stuff by your sponsers so you do and make the best of it, i changed to brushless mid year and havent looked back, yes ive had 2 failers, one due to my own errors (i didnt water proof it enough) and one that just failed but in comparison to the brushed year before it was no worse and in fact i did 1 speedo and 4 motors through the year by desoldering the internals, the main thing is that in the brushless case the warrenty was honered and if the bits were in stock they were shipped straight out to me, the advantages ive found is to have a lot more feel midway through the power range which ive found makes the car a lot more drivable. as for makes of equipment im obviously biased towards nosram as im sponsered to run it but can also say that it has been run without hitch for the time ive had it and has been really good to use, one of my team mates runs nosram speedo's and orion motors and he really rates them for there reliability as well. every manufacturer has had failures of equipment and everyone will have a horror story of some part or other, so make your own choiceas to what to run, i honestly dont think you will go wrong with your original choice of nosram speedo's and orion motors as i have seen them first hand being given a lot of abuse for a year now without fault

I would go with brushless. It makes things so much easier, with almost no motor maintainence. Then go for spektrum and a personal transponder, this will free up time to set your car up, glue tyres and talk to your mates

I originally was scepticle about brushless, but as I tended to go through brushes once every four or five runs and of course skimming and mainteneance which is a pain especially if its raining and cold I decided to try the Peak brushless and hate to admit it but its worth the money.
If you work out how many times you skim your motor and how many brushes you use and then look at the overall cost you could probably buy another motor and maybe more. This brushless motor doesnt glitch, feels as torquey as a brushed, and zero maintanance is needed, well in my 4wd its got a bit wet when it rained but that didnt bother it at all. I would recommend getting the Tekin as you will be able to use all brushless manfacturers as it works sensored and sensorless.
