Looks are deceiving. Brittle and expensive to repair, just the same with the cheaper model the Egress. Looked great though.

Was the higher spec Egress cheaper in UK? In sweden the Egress was more expensive.
Vanquish was the "cheap" base model.
Egress had carbon chassi, titanium screws, hi-cap, balldiffs, sealed ball bearings etc. Basically a full option Avante. Only missing parts like the posi-joint drive shafts (lovely parts btw).

Correct me if I´m wrong.

But I agree that they were brittle.

I also believe the Egress was more expensive than the Avante all ove the world because of the spec you listed.
Only Option parts for the Egress were Posi Joints Front and Rear, Hi Cap Damper Spring Sets Front and Rear and the Inner Sponge from the Avante, but inly for the Rear wheels as the front ones were thin.
I raced my Egress for 3 years and the only thing i ever broke was one front C- part.
The Avante is much more brittle mainly because of the steering and the D- parts (lower arms).
I loved to race my Egress and it handled well on my track.
SInc ei discovered the modern Tamiya buggies though like DB01R, TRF502X and TRF201 there is no way back for me

I agree DCM, the Avante is awesome.

Correct Johannes! It is nice to get some help from a fellow Tamiya "nerd"...

When you make a list of options you understand why Egress was so expensive...
The Avante Carbon Graphite Chassis kit costed ~160 euros in sweden...
Ball race steering costed ~60 euros.

Avante had a list price of 3 350 SEK (370 euros) in sweden.

Always a pleasure to bundle Tamiya forces, Fredrik
Yes and think about the Avante Titanium screw set that had the Step screws for the front knuckle arms made of titanium. You could only buy them in the screw set or the Egress screw bag A.
I remember the price of the screw set was 1000 Schillings back in 1989. This is about 75 Euro today!!
The same was with the Posi Joints. One pair also had a price of about 1000 Schillings back then....expensive car.

Sorry, yes vanquish was the one i meant. I had an egress and broke the chassis and gearboxes and was so expensive and took forever for spares i ended up chucking it. Tamiya still is super slow at selling stock so seems not much has changed.
