Remember Mark Sadlet now and WASP - assume Wasp are no more!

I remember Guy...... cant put my finger on it now though.

Remember the name Passingham but again, the memory is jaded a little!

I remember night racing at Newbury on a Wednesday nights, Danny Vella was 'grooming' me at the time so would pick me, also he'd take me to Basingstoke before I started driving. Remember once we stopped at a newsagents about 7.30am to pick up his copy of Mayfair!!!!!!

Seem to remember it was run by another guy before Tony took over – Martin?? Ran a model shop local but was really more into his heli and planes. Drove a big full size 4WD.

Remember one meeting where we turned up to race on the normal grass track but it was waterlogged so Tony just took us all off to local car park and we raced on that.

Also at one of the winter series there was a novel way of qualifying – we had several qualifying meetings then ran a whole meeting of finals.

Also raced at the Wednesday night club Tony ran at a school near Newbury – little grass track where we raced until we could not see the cars properly

Saw Mark Passingham a few months back at Aldershot – he has started back racing Mod TCs.

Rob
My Dad Brian ran the Newbury club from early 90's but before that were two other guys from Newbury.... Tony ran S&H then set-up Hampshire Racing centre in Basingstoke at the old Basingstoke club venue.

That's the guy!! That was a really good era for off-road in the south - titchfield, S&H, basingstoke, southampton, newbury etc - great inter-club racing.

Unfortunately too many of us gave up or went on-road and it kinda died off.

Working at tesco made me give up the first time. Now fortunately on a good wage to enable me to race again and travel to the likes of EPR etc.

Still not very good though - lol

Although i'm up here in Northants, I used to do the Chiltern Mid-South regionals, which would take us down to Basingstoke etc - theres a few names being mentioned that I can remember... Nick, I seem to remember that you were pretty damn handy!

What's your Surname Dan?

That was certainly the region most of these guys would have been racing in, i was only a nipper for the early 90's stuff and my more serious racing was done between 95-2002 when i packed up at 19 but yeah i did pretty well in those years and do regret packing up so young really as i know i could have gone on and done even better but i think you get to a point that you have to still enjoy the racing but it had all got a bit serious and with real cars, women and drinking i just couldn't keep my mind on just racing and didn't want to put the time in any more.

Nick - I'm Dan Wooster, you prob won't remember me, I was prob doing the Chiltern regionals around the mid 90s - would have been hanging around with the likes of Matt Course of MCM racing. Think I managed to get my F2 in that region before moving to the Mid East as the tracks were a bit nearer, also a few years of Nationals. Then Touring Cars happened and have been racing these since the early 2000s - hoping to make a bit more of an off road return next year, after having a bit of a go this year with an old RC10 I restored :-)
