The wide mounts also put the body clips & etc behind the tip of the shock tower in already turbulent air, leaving more clean air on the total wing surface.
The Other good thing about the wider wingmounts is they are about as wide as the shocktower, so it gives extra protection when you land on your roof HARD. 1st I used the Losi wing mounts but when ever I got on my roof at high speed the shocktower could break. The wing would just "bend" (sorry dont know a better word for it) and the impact would be taken by the shocktower. With the wider mounts the wing does not "bend" when it gets on it's roof and the wing will take most of the impact. Since that time I havent killed any rear shocktowers. It doesn't happen often, but in a race when you need to swap a shocktower you got quite some wrenching to do (the tranny needs to removed aswell) so its just better to avoid it.

i used to have quite a few problems with breaking wings easily [probably bad driving on my behalf, as it seems to have cured itself] and when a wing broke off,or i didnt have one on during one round the back end of my x6 slid around quite severely. just goes to show how the wings on the x6 really do help.
