Ben,

e36coupe.com is a fab forum, it now has been renamed bmwowner.com and covers all e36's and e46 3 series. It also caters for the 5s, 7s etc etc.

Personally i would look at a 318is as its more powerful, and has a 1.9 16v engine (e36) and develops 140 bhp and is generally nicknamed the baby M3, they are light agile revy and the 4 pot engine is rumoured to be the best engine that bmw have produced on both reliablilty and performance and becuase its light very chuckable.

Iv had various e36's a 318is, 328 ( briefly ) and the last one was the M3 evo (321 bhp ) and iv never looked back. I now run an e46 320d which despite having a bad reputation for turbos going bang, swirl flaps dropping into the engine and destroying it, has been excellent. Maintenance can be expensive, but its a well built car and built for driving.

Thumbs up from me.

Col.
