Yes, you are, but it is also conmpounded by the problem that IT sellers do not point out the issue's involved in selling such gear. Most people who buy computers for home, live blissfuly unaware of what can happen, I would say, you ask all those who got kids at home, who have a computer/their own computer, what their kids do on their computer and what games they play, and their age rating, most wouldn't know.
Wi-Fi routers, they all come with manuals don't they, and I am sure they cover Encryption and locking down your network don't they, they choose to ignore that bit, they then can't complain when they get leached due to their ignorance of the info that is provided to them.
How else do you describe it, ok, there is a lack of knowledge parting at the point of sale, but all the info is given to you in the box. Most people see a computer as white goods, and thats it.
