I've just been stung also
By the time i've sold what i've sold, paid the fees and postage, it was hardly worth doing.
In future i will be saying send a cheque, or will have to add the percentage onto the item before posting a price

If you pay with gift and use either money you have as a paypal balance or direct from your bank account registered with paypal, there will be no fees for you or the person being payed. It is only when a card gets involved that fees start.

We had some trouble when someon paid by gift. But could do nothing about it as it was a gift and not a purchase.
So I would reccomend doing sales in the normal way and pay the little charge. At least if something goes wrong, then you have some comeback if anything happens.
