Hi DCM,
the chrome i use is alclad chrome, it comes in aerosol or bottled for airbrush use. But i've stopped using it because the shell that I did for adam for the HB D4 with the chrome on got wet, and even though it was backed with other paints, when the chrome got wet it just came off completely clean. it has also happened to another shell i've painted when the owner wanted to just wash the shell. I'm only using it for 'show/display' shells now. The purple was createx iridescent violet, sprayed on then it had cling film applied to it whilst still wet. take it straight off then dry in front of a heater. then back with black. you can also use fasescent purple faskolor, its the same thing. |

Cheers Tel.
I have tried not to use Chrome of late, for the same reasons. I have tried Spazstix and Alclad, the one I have had the most success is with Spaz in a can, but it is so hard to use and expensive. I do use Chrome as a backer though, Faslucent, then Faskrom, then Chrome, makes the pearl candy affect work more.

I use chrome for 'marbling' too sometimes. by putting a candy colour down (pactra or tamiya) then back with chrome and whilst wet apply cling film. this has a better effect than the faskolor way as it has a 'deeper' finish to it. I sometimes use it to back candy colours straight too without the marbling. gives a nice finish, and seems to stick better too when applied to a solvent paint.
