The 81T will fit as well, but don't make the same mistake as me as you will have to put a large pinion on...a little tricky if it doesn't physically fit through the bulkhead!
Just get the 87T and gear at about 16T / 17T pinion and it should go well. This is what I run with my 5.5 X11 brushless motor having had advice from Jimmy on the matter.
If you're finding the mesh hard to get consistent then you may need to invest in some long-boss pinions. I got mine from RW Racing.
