Are you going for period electrics? Think i used a futaba 9402 and Tekin 411g with a Reedy Mr M ultra series motor. Sanyo 1700sce or scr i think as well. I did like this cars simplicity and was good fun to drive.

Default Electrics

Hi Welshy,

I ran back in the day, Tekin 411g also black with gold. I ran System batteries blue then the black came out. I ran a corally 14T purple can. Loved the motor before that I had a Reedy Mr A 14T. Servo I had a KO 1001 FET. Best servo I ever had.

Im going in this brushless.

I have gone for a,

Nosram HD .....RED...
Nosram 7.5.............
Absima servo love these servos......
I will be getting a Nosram shorty RED.....

Not that the colour has anything to do with it

Will also try and get the body painted over the next couple of days.....

Ok sounds great but would go backwards on the motor to a 9 or 10 only because the gearbox cant handle that power, and yes you want a runner but dont think youll enjoy fixing it after every run.

I think you may be surprised James I've run a 5.5 in my Procat with a 4mm main drive belt and it held up great!

looks really nice Mark well done on finding it, looks almost like a new build

If the belt, slipper and diff are adjusted properly a 8.5 should be fine, 7.5 maybe pushing it. Used to run an 11 single twister on a 411p(still have it sitting in my XX) with trinity matched 2000 mah scr-c's back in the day with no problem. On a high grip surface I'd go 10.5 max though or you'll be eating diffs pretty quickly

Default Motor.

Hi Welshy,

As per J, I have a mate who has ran his cougar with a 6.5 with no issues.

I will try it and start on blinky and see how it goes.

I must admit I did feel like you and was thinking around 8.5-9.5 but when the 6.5 was in it I thought go for it.

If it is too much I will certainly drop down.

I ran my RC10 all last year on 7.5 and 8.0 with no issues. The same mate had a 6.5 it that also again no issues...

Once I have tried it I will report back to let everyone how it went.

Ok interesting, be fun to find out. Ive a 4.5 in my lazer but that gearbox has had major development to get it to handle that power.

Looks like Mark's done a variation of the scheme that originally appeared in the RC Car Action magazine review...

A well built & set-up Cougar2 gearbox should easily handle the power of a decent brushless motor - I've been running a 6.5 in mine for a while & its been fine. I love the Pro spec diffs - they just seem to take the abuse & stay smooth & free for ages!

Cheers guys,

Peaky.........

Yes I will be giving it a run at Broxtowe snowman series. Think its the 24th Jan, but must check.

Dan..........

Yes its that design. If you remember back over 2 years ago I did this on my cougar 2 build in purple with orange stripes as the above picture as well.

That cougar 2 is now Penguin bodies show car on Ebay for the cougar 2 bodies.......

Yes - I remember now! My Cougar1 & TopCat feature in Steve's (Mr Penguin) ebay adverts for his bodies for those respective cars

Your shells features the 90s-tastic 'splatter' paint that I think you may got the idea from RC10Talk member geeforce59's rebuilt Cougar2 Works which featured the same RC Car Action inspired paint scheme;

This design is what I ran when the works came out in around 1993 to combat the rc10. That was one reason the works gearbox was moved back as the rc10 had the upper hand on bumpy and lesser griped tracks.

The splatter I was doing in 1990 when I started painting shells. The first one I tried was all black with red, blue, green and yellow splats.......

Looked awesomcrap...... and then tried other designs. Yes I was inspired by this when I seen it back in around 92/93 when the works came out..........
