Hey hey!, Pleased to hear some of you agree with me, thanks for your response!
Nice to see some of you also getting the kids involed, i really like the idea of a 540 beginers class, that's exactly what tracy is running in her Academy along with a standard tamiya speed controller, like i say it can be done on a budget and still be enjoyable.
Blimey! i got home to find Trace has also joined Oople! she must be keen! GREAT !!

Ooooo, on to week 3 of tracy's racing....and so far, not one thing broken or bent!, the car has lost a steering hub king pin once or twice but thats down to a worn hub thread.
I did wonder if my pocket was gonna take a massive dent in the wallet when she started, but so far, it's cool !

I think that's brilliant! If racing didn't finish so late my daughter would definitely race. She is great a lot better than me (my first go in Canterbury I slammed Lewis' car straight into the wall full throttle as I didn't steer in time).

She is 7 at the mo. She had her first Kart lesson at Buckmoore the other week and was the only girl! She did a lot better than the boys - the only disadvantage she had, was despite being the same age as the boys she was the tallest and actually was to long for the Karts (Bambino one's) We are looking to get her a 'cadet' Kart the next size up. She'd fly if her elbows didn't touch her elbows.

(If anyone has got a Kart for sale pm me please)

Hi Yanina, Yeah that is one slight thing with the youngsters, sadly the late nights followed by school the next day may cause a few issues. We tend to fininsh around 10-10.30 depending on how many drivers attend.
Faversham are doing an indoor winter series soon which will be at the weekends! great! that may hopefully encourage a few more young drivers along if the evenings are a problem.
You should come along too and give it a go, im sure Lewis would give you another chance with the pred!

Yanina,
Thanks for being supportive! Lewis did have to pick my car up more than a few times tho last night lol, think he finds the whole thing highly amusing! ( and my slow speed frustrating to watch!)
But coming to the FORCC winter series is a great idea as it'll be on a sunday....dates should be posted on south east forum today or tomorrow.

See you soon when i undoubtably do break something!!

Tracy.

I used to be a race director at several kart circuits and have to admit that the girls were alot easier to explain the rules and give advice to than the men. It was'nt uncommon for them to be quicker as well.

As far as buying a kart is concerned, it depends on what class you would like to do. The cheapest adult class is probably prokarts and for the kids it would be cadets.
