Loving this post, i started back last year after 15 years away (kids and work etc) and i came back into buggies and introduced my son to racing as well, one tip i can give and always works for me on a new track is think MIDDLE OF THE TRACK until you get used to it, my old man always used to that to me and it works, its a tip i use on my son as well.

How does this Virtual RC work exactly? Do I get to use my actual transmitter and I race the truck online like that? If so, then I can see this as a super little training tool and worth the investment (as long as the physics are sort of realistic).

What I did was, start with slowest motor when I joined the club, 17.5T installed in my buggy from my touring car, then quickly changed to 10.5T until I build up my confidence, now I am on 7.5t motor all under 1.5year, I am very average driver. I still make mistakes etc but that's part of racing.

Middle of the track is another a good tip, I've got so much good info from this thread. I was trying far too hard to 'hit' the apex of corners at my first attempt. Who am I kidding!? If I can get some dry weather I will give that a go.
And maybe a 13.5 motor is too quick?? As I didn't race for over 25 years I'm guessing any car/motor will seem quick compared to my old Tamiya Boomerang! What does everyone think about joining multiple clubs and learning as many tracks as possible? I know it's not free but most clubs are pretty reasonable for a years membership?

I got back into racing 2 years ago after a 25 year stint away from it. Back then i was racing a Tamiya Falcon and then upgraded to a Thundershot. I soon got used to the speed of it all but teh fine art of racing takes a bit of time. I knew the lines i wanted to take but wasnt skilled enough to hit them. Now i am able to get there, hit the apex and power it out. It all takes time, it will come back to you and remember, its a whole lot of fun trying to get there!
