I think, it may have been an optional extra to buy, the rear motor guard.

Was a few models that had these as optional items.

There's no mention of it in the assembly steps in the manual so I guess it must have been an option part.

What happened to the motor guard?
The motor guard didn't come with any kit. It wasn't in the Gold Optima, Turbo Optima or Salute. It was only available as an Option House part so 'correct' restorations shouldn't really include it.

The under chassis guard did come with the Turbo Optima and the Salute.

The motor guard is an optional part from Option House, they and the gold side nerf bars never came as standard parts in any of the Optima kits.

Ozipanda, I noticed the two screws on the cross brace on the upper chain cover, they belong at the rear of the radio plate for the driver doll to fit under.

Thanks Keith, I am going fully disassemble and rebuild before it before I attempt to run it.

Another little update...managed to get some building done! I think it's coming together nicely. Need to press on with the electrics install.

This project has finally come to completion and I'm very happy with the end result!

These wheels were bought ages ago from gomachv (Jeff). By a company called Condor racing.

When put together they look the business..I haven't glued the rims to the wheels

Tidied the wiring a little. A few little things to still do here, but I can tackle them someother time.

Shell cut, decals applied and ready for mounting.

The end result...I think a fitting tribute to my 1000th post

That looks awesome and the gold works really well with the red. I've really enjoyed the build and I think you should pat yourself on the back for a job well done

Not sure Dan...it's the top deck that came with the roller I bought. What makes you suspect it's from an optima pro?

Wow.... nice work!!!
BRAVO!!!! (in standing ovation)

Well, I sourced a local company who does the gold anodizing, now I need to decide whether I anodize my original Optima, the Javelin or the Turbo Optima(dont have yet) I plan to get on near future.

One question; Was the celebration chassis only factory available to the original Optima and not on the Turbo Optima nor Javelin?

The reason I ask is because I've never seen a box of a Turbo Optima nor the Javelin with the gold celebration chassis option.

And another question, which I've tried several times to get answered; when was the true release date of the Turbo Optima Mid Special?

Again, great job!

Thanks!

Toms may have been '88 or '89

I think the gold celebration chassis was found on the original optima as part of a kit. It was also available separately. So I'm guessing people just installed it o their turbo optimas etc..

Thanks, but most satisfying of all was an appreciation from the wife!
