From photos the only racing seems to involve a large crane.

Ash,

Why have you voted? Neither region concerns you and you probably dont know where durham, south shields or jarrow is.

This thread should never have happend, I think Jimmy should close it!

Not only is it completely counter-productive, it takes away the DISCUSSION and makes Decision, which we are not doing!

It's also in the wrong forum, meaning many other user's will post for the sake of it on an issue that is completely irrelevant to them, which takes me onto the thread starter, who started a poll about the NE when he doesn't even live there

RcRob - some of your logic is good (a forum poll does not make any decisions)

Clubs choose which regions’ series they wish to hold meetings for - regardless of geographic location. Any club can hold a meeting for any region or regions it sees fit.

This thread is founded not on logic, but on misconceptions.

the south lakes club is still going, we used to hold a round of the NW series, we've moved to a school in kendal so it's just plain grass, with a large banking at one side

I think I raced there a few years back - is it wennington high school or something like that?

Why are South Lakes not hosting regionals anymore?

we've had plenty of venues, we moved from wennington hall to the kendal showground, which wasn't very good, full of bumps and potholes, and it rained on us 2 years running, and the northwest joined northeast, so there were plenty of other tracks, also the club became really low on members, surviving on only 6 of us for a good few months, i think we're up to about 25 now. we're now racing at a school just on the edge of kendal. I think the club would be interested in running a regional meeting again if it suited everyone else

Would be good to have South Lakes back.

The poll really needs another option "No, as there is no such thing as a regional divide - clubs can ask to run meetings for any region(s)"

If a club can request to run in any of the regions as you suggest (I think), theoretically for example, a club in the northeast could apply to run one of the midwest regional events. If the midwest were stuggling for places to hold their regional meetings (an example only), that could mean midwest drivers having to travel to the northeast to compete in the midwest series!! This would essentailly then become a nationwide series.

Unless I've misinterpreted your idea??

It's not an idea - it's the way it is.

There is no such thing as a regional boundary, not in a geographic sense.

If a club from the south coast asked the NE consortium to hold a regional, and it was accepted, then it could hold it.

This is obviously an extreme example, and would never happen in reality - but my point is that it's up to the regional committee to decide which applications to accept - it matters not where they are from.

It's also worth pointing out that a club can host meetings for more than one region. That would be quite important in the unlikely event of a region split, as the clubs from both sides of the split could still hold meetings for both sides.

There is a massive amount of stuff in this thread & 'Jim's' thread that is highly illogical (I sound like Mr Spock - sorry) or factually incorrect. I have been very close to deleting some of it but have not done so - this is only oOple after all!

I see where you are coming from Stu, and as Bury ran N/E and N/W meetings previously, I'm sure the majority of people are or should be aware of that fact. So yes, I agree a south coast club could effectively hold a N/E regional.

However irrelevant of the region, do you not think there must come a point when any consortium struggling for venues or not would say no to a club due to distance from there given regional location??

Oh yeah – of course.

It would be decided by the committee, using their best judgement based on their options at the time.

It’s certainly not decided by the racers themselves (unless they have a place on the committee), and certainly not by posts on stupid internet message boards like this one.

(Jimmy – you see what I said there, you like?)
