I'm running either 21/87 or 23/87 on 6.5T, both get too hot to touch, about 70-80 degrees C.

Which is well within the "safe" limit for brushless motors........

and the ESC calculates top speed, not very well admittedly, but i've seen 70 ish kph indicated when blatting round a carpark

sorry for offending anyone with my stupidly high pinion sizes, will drop back down to 24 teeth

No one is offended, best plan is to get a digital temperature gauge so you know how hot the motor actually is.

The thumb test is all very well, but when the upper limit for most motors is pretty much enough to take your thumb print off and leave you with a smoldering thumb..... Its not actually very useful!
