It seems this thread got a bit out of control and stuff like This could scare a beginner (which is likely to happen considering its a ansmann thread) i understand where everyones point of view is from I will try a variety of ball brands to see which ones i personally prefer Cheers Lee ![]() |

ceramic balls that work best for pressure loaded bearings are made of Si_3Ni_4. If you want to have the best possible quality you can get balls with better tolerances. Most balls you can buy from rc companies are grade 3 or 5 but I know some 12scale guys using grade 25. Havent seent anything better than 25 but you will be fine with any grade 3 or 5 balls.
If you want the best balls possible the limit should be grade 1000 afaik. No idea how much they cost but pretty sure its nonsence for rc ![]() to answer your question: I wouldnt spend much time thinking about it, both will do the job. I had some Team C ones, tehy should be the same as Ansmann and they are great too. Get those you can get cheapest and fastest. You can use them in most cases at least one year nonstop racing. |

Moose, ball grades go down wards. So grade 3 is far better than grade 25!
You may be referring to bearing abec rating

Lee,
Sorry your thread has been hijacked!! If your are using the standard balls then i reccommend going for tungsten carbide! they last longer and don't give a complete diff failure when they go! Ceramic are smooth but are easily damaged. As you can tell asking for best manufacture is a complete mistake here! ![]() |

I was given a set of buds balls to try and they seem very smooth
when the diff was fresh it felt a bit lose but they tighten which was strange however now they have bedded in they are really good and make my car a awful lot easier to drive |
