I would like to congratulate Craig Collinson for his victory at the Silverstone weekender with the MCS.

Well done mate !

I'll try to bug him for his wet and dry setups.

Hi All,
Am lovin' this car it just gets better and better each time i go out with it. I have noticed a small problem and i would like to share it with you guys as it would seem to be quite important, i noticed that my motor plate is rubbing on my lipo pack and has almost cut through the casing so i took a file and removed a couple of mm's just to clear the lipo pack when the T-plate is at full flex. Something else i have done is to countersink the top 2 holes for the shock tower mount, this eliminates any movement of the tower when landing on it.

HTH Simon

Simon, can you explain this countersunk-modification a bit more? II do not understand how the use of countersunk screws in stead of regular-screws can prevent the rear shocktower from moving...
This shocktower is attached with 4 screws and IMHO there is no movement in it.

@ Fabs: do you have any news about the 2 rear shocktowers?

Yep I'm curious too...

I have plenty of towers but no spare gearboxes...

Another question for you guys, who'd be interested in a plate to support a rear roll bar ? Or in clear, who runs/want to run a roll bar? If enough people I'll have a batch of them made.

Right guys,

Craig has been testing a saddle lipo configuration. This has been an improvement for him, it made the car more responsive and with more steering. I've worked out a neat way to have it done which would require only 3 new carbon fibre parts. It should't cost too much, but The question is, who would be interested?

I've also sorted out a brass weight for under the lipo and one for the back of the car for low grip conditions.

I need sufficient numbers in order to make it all viable...

Fabs

I allready have the Ghea brass rear bits (Toe-block and anti-squat-block).

I also added some weight behind the lipo, on both ends of the motor, and got the car to a balance of 64% of the total weight on the rear axle, which makes the car react very stable when jumping.

Do you have pictures of this saddle-layout, Fabs? I had thought of trying a sadle-layout as well, thinking that the more centered weight of the lipo's could only improve the handling of the car... but on the other hand, now the MCS is a mid-motor in which one can use regular stickpacks, which also is a big advantage ... and I don't have any saddle-lipo.

As for my setup for the EIR-track, Fabs, I'm gonna test some more. I think I can get it even better.

Also another note:
there is news about the EIR 2011.
I made a post about it over here:
http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53745

Hope we can meet there again, Fabs

Also, have fun this weekend at the race in Paris and please pass on my regards to my racing friends. Pitty I can't come.

hey Hulk, isn't that a stickpack mounted over the length off the car, in stead of a sadle-pack?

Above is a pic of how ive done mine.

This is a home made job so its not the neatest as its only been done for some testing.

Ive found with the electrics centered down the middle the car is more responsive, changes direction quicker without rolling as much, and has more steering as there is more weight towards the front. The car in general just feels more balanced.

When the traction is low and your struggling for rear end grip all you need do is bolt around 30-50gof weight to the rear of the shock tower and/or put some weight under the rear lipo. Also giving therear camber link loads of angle seems to help keep the rear locked in on low traction tracks, especially in the wet.

Fabs has sent me some drawings of the parts he would make to give this lipo configuration and i for one must say it looks very professional.

He has also sent some pics of the brass weight you can bolt to the rear of the shock tower and the brass strip to go under your lipo, both of which look sweet!

No mate, its saddle pack with the front going length ways and the rear lipo going across forming a T shape.

Definately improved the handling of the car in my opinion, you just need time to get used to the added steering!

Craig
