Hi there,

I am in the process of preparing for the 2010 season, and have started collecting parts and updating my X6.

The car is originally an X6 that I bought last summer just before the squared came out, but since then I have upgraded all parts so that is is now a squared.

I have so far istalled a few extra bits and pieces, including:
-J-concepts ball ends
-Racers edge alu rear hubs
-MIP drive shafts with captured pins
-Titanium balls
-Rudebits weights in rear corners
-ghea front brass bulkhead

Here are a couple of shots of the car as of tonight, the electronics still need to be installed:

I am still unsure of the body, as I currently donth think there is a good looking body available for the x6, and I dont know if I like the door-wedge- or toad look the most..

Here is a shot of a phat-bodies zen body, in a 10-min paintjob:

I have another shell on the shelf, so I might spend a little more time painting one if I end up using this style.

As you may see, I have lowered the wing mount so that the upper mount is bolted through the lower hole, then I made a new countersunk hole lower down. I dont like the humongous wing that is mounted so high, so I cut it a bit, and mounted it some 2 cm further forward. I dont know how that will affect the handling, though, but it is an easy fix to go back to the original style.

Things that remains to be done includes:
-rebuild diff with the bfast kit that is on its way
-replace spurs with machined ones
-paint the body of choise (or probably have a pro paint it for me...)
-practice...

Watch out for the red plastic rings on those C-CVDs. The red rings were no good and all the new ones, including ours, have white rings. Don't know if D.M.S. has just the rings or not.

You can now buy the improved white rings in a MIP rebuild kit. Most stock is moving over slowly now to the newer/better white rings........

Well, it is an entire month ago that I got these axles, so no wonder they are outdated already....

What are the red rings? And what do they do?

I've not seen the red rings before but guess they are CVD pin retainers.

I use a bit of heatshrink over the pin to stop it coming out and locking the rear wheels up if the grub screw comes loose!

Your axles are not out of date, they are curretn, just MIP have updated the material used on the new C-CVD rings, from thye older red to the new tougher white.

The C-CVD is slighly different to a normal CVD in that it does NOT use a grub screw to secure the pin, instead the outer diameter of the CVD bone is threaded and the ring (red now white) threads over this area and covers where the pin goes in, preventing it from coming out and securing it in place.

but what was the problem with the red ones?

Im my mind, if I have to replace something that I bought a month ago, and the car hasn't moved an inch, then I feel that the part is outdated...

If there is nothing wrong with your red ones then run them (I do), but MIP have simply improved them with the newer and tougher white ones - they have evolved. The red ones were released over a year ago now by MIP, the change to the white material is purely an advance in making them better. They did not "release" them a month ago and replace them straight away, they have been around for some time as I have said above and sadly many people buy things months, weeks or even just days before somthing new replaces it and becomes available..... that is life sadly.

You can buy the white rings seperate in a rebuild kit once your red ones need replacing, wear out or if they break..... they are not expensive at all when they are required.

Hi guys,

I have grind a tiny flat on the pins to avoid loosing the pin- does the thinned area- approx. 0,2x3,0x0,8mm- of the pin increase the possibility of bending or fracture?

tnx

the 0,2mm is the depth of the flat...

I ran the red one's for 3/4 months and there was no problem with them. I wouldn't rush out to replace them.

Hi,

Finally I have finished my own made front carbon tower....bye bye K factory

I have pressed 24 layers of 200g/m2 Torayca 3K plain carbon fibers, impregnated with our Axson Technologies epoxy resin containes carbon nano fibers. Pressed between two aluminium sheets and heated up to 80 Celsius.....its hmhm,, strong, 4mm thick.

The ballink holder are damaged Asso front tower pieces,, simply cutted and trimmed.

I love it

The cooling is an Fastrax alu cooler with fan. Little modification and fits in the X6sq just as original

Go ahead X Factory!!!!!
