I'm not suprirsed! it's absolutely brilliant! What sort of things were involved in producing the design?

The customer supplied me high resolution images for me to take inspiration from, I then worked out how many elements I could comfortably fit into the design. Did some test pieces to make sure I could get the effect and that was it. He was very pleased how it came out.

Thought I better update this with my latest creation for one of my very patient customers who again was kind enough to say to be, "Yeah it's fine, do what you want"... So once again I did, came out pretty well too

Ian's given me a quite striking shell for my Tekno RC'd D8 Hara, pretty chuffed with it actually.
After looking at umpteen pictures of the FTW Exabyte shell online, there's not a design quite like this one, certainly none as cool to my eyes.

Real shame the paint effect isn't evident in the pictures. Sunlight touching it lends the surface a deep sparkle, gives flushes of red and green as a result of the chameleon flip used with the orange and silver sections.

When the weather finally decides to allow some sunlight through (it's dull, dull, dull here in Bournemouth right now) I'll see if I can capture the paint doing it's thing.

6 weeks since I last posted a shell. Got a few others to put up I did over the summer but this is pretty special !

Well, finally got myself together and finished this Touring Car shell for my most patient customer ever. I would like to say thanks to Paul for his understanding with this actually.

It took me a long time to source all the correct logo's as this is a 1999 Touring Car scheme and because of that a lot of the companies have since updated their logo's. Reference was also difficult to find.

This is all paint, all sponsors, grill, lights, everything paint, took ages, far too long to do. I missed the logo's on the door sill as they were just too tiny to reproduce accurately enough. The spoiler was done but I didn't photograph it or mount i to the shell before posting so not in the photo.

Awesome Ian.

I can't believe how small / thin some of that cut vinyl mask was !
I can only go so small before it all goes to hell - no way I would have even attempted some of those tourer logos!

Nice work Ian... loving the Vauxhal, I remember watching them at Thruxton back in the day. I'm a big fan of the realistic colour schemes for tourers as well, it would be even better if we could go back to the scale dhelks of the day too.

Cheers guys.

I was actually determined to do ALL the logo's but I just couldn't manage the OHLINS or OZ Racing ones as they were just too tiny. I tested brushing pieces in but the paint wouldn't go down in one go so it needed another maybe 2 or 3 coats to achieve density of colour and I couldn't keep it accurate.

Looks lush!

I did the rapid fit Mondeo on a GT12 shell, I know how much effort it takes.
What ever you charged him, If you double it its still not enough haha

Fantastic work again fella, god knows how you can put the masks on for the sponsor logos and get them straight etc? This shell must of taken ages, worth it in the end though.

Really nice work Ian, I'm not seeing your fresh postings flagged though, would have missed these if I hadn't indulged in a bit of stalking... ;-)

cheers
