I'm not daunted by maintenance. front end is more or less the same as bmax2 and i counted two extra screws to get gearbox out compared. four of those are the longer shock tower screws which take a bit more wrist action. sure its not four screws to diff out like bmax4, but i appreciate the design. you can see how they started with the bmax2 and are where we are now.

![]() James has his X6^2 dialed round there. home track and all... he's had lots if practice and this was my first outing with the new car The super worn mini pins i was using has stopped turning my bmax2, which did push a lot with them on. the yz -2 was direct and precise, with loads of steering. I'm also feeling a kick in power on throttle. no boost or turbo set, but i think its punch control? John Price also commented on it when having a go.

Neal what caster were you running? It was definitely lacking mid corner and corner exit steering, turn in looked okay.

I don't understand how you can say it lacked steering when you didn't drive it? Those who drove it didn't say that. please post a YouTube time so i can see what you are referring to. I suspect it's just my bad driving and lines. Dannys was doing odd things, but he had 4wd front wheels on that were binding at full lock. he had no 2wd tyres and should have stuck to new pins to wear them in.

The chicane next to the rostrum, not the one directly in front. The car was turning well but seemed to push wide on the exit. Whether it was some wild lines then fine but you were loosing time on other cars. At the end of the straight the car turned well and then the front end was sliding mid corner.
Might be down to tyres as well especially if they were new. I presume yours was the green car. |

I've watched the video and to me it looks like you had no rear end, or the slipper was too tight/motor was to quick, as you never really looked to have the back of the car under control.
It's always hard to judge a new car first time out as you will always have that "new car syndrome" and on such a small track as well. I've watched you drive at worksop with your Bmax 2 so there will be the real test, as to whether it is quicker or not.

Front tyres were worn to 0.5-1mm minipins that i used at worksop, rear were worn also, to about he same rate. These fronts do push on the bmax2, they felt perfect to me on this. I'll check the video, but I suspect its my lines not the car. I recall earlier in rounds that I could take inside line precisely and pass other cars there. I passed John Price's vintage losi there a few times ;-) It's safe, but steering when you want it. Tyres of course play a major part. The car setup (out the box) doesn't make it understeer. Danny's did push, on brand new minipin rubber, but he had his setup different to me anyway. He tried some other tyres but struggle to get the balance right with not owning any fronts, then using 4wd rims on front. The floor surface is polished rubber floor, with then a bit of surface dust. we brush up before he track is put down, but its still quite slippy, certainly on the wrong tyres. it does feel more grippy after a few rounds, but that goes off as the timed heating goes off in the hall at the end of the night and the temp drops.

ms to kick in harshly, but there is no boost or turbo set, but its not linear. its punch control setting I think, which are on default. I just want it smooth and linear. You are right, its a small track, and its slippy, so not the ideal first test. Worksop next week... I don't have the previous meetings bmax2 filmed to compare. I was up against the same people (apart from Danny) and positioned the same from Q5 week previous. The track is surface is fairly consistent, and I'm comparing against how the bmax2v3 ran last time, and on the same tyres (after worksop last week). The car felt good to me. I let others try it and they said the same. I suspect its my driving not the car ![]()

Ran mine at York last night. Struggled a lot in qualyfying, but got it right for finals. Was purely tires. Upon getting balanced tyres I went from 9th to 3rd in the A
![]() It was a tiny bit looser on the very slippy parts (on power) than the fastest lads cars were, but was mega on the carpet sections and carried more speed even on the slippy sections. Just slightly looser on power. Im certain I can make it work just as well as the traditional mids on low traction with just a bit more weight and rear bias. I was running it as light as possible and Im very impressed. ![]() |

-There is a small piece on the body lexan sheet, it's behind the body cutting lines and has it's own cutting lines. It looks like a front wing but I can not be sure because I didn't saw any yz-2 with front wing . What is this part ?
- There are two cutting lines on the rear end of the body. which one should I use ? Last edited by alport; 27-01-2015 at 09:47 AM. |
